Does price increase affect old members?

Does price increase affect old members?

Country: Malaysia

a family plan subscribed to Spotify at 14.90 a month last year. I see that the price is now 23.80 a month. I don't know when did the price increase. Do old members subscribed at that time it was 14.90 pay 14.90 or do they pay 23.80 now? tia.

Hey @BnT123, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Suddenly having to pay more for a service you use is only natural to be frustrating. But price adjustments are sometimes necessary so companies can continue to operate, improve, add new features and stay competitive. There can be many reasons for this, some even external ones, requiring to adjust prices to reflect local macroeconomic factors and meet market demands, while at the same time being able to keep the expected service from customers.

In this case, Spotify has notified all existing subscribers to let them know when new prices will become effective and the new price points for Premium plans. Existing users will also have a grace period until the new price is effective during which they can decide if they want to continue subscribing under the new price. This price increase affects anyone who has a Family plan. Even if there's no way to continue using Spotify at the previous prices, I still hope this info was useful.

Hi Thanks for the reply. Do you know where I can find a chart where it shows the timeline and the price being charged?

For example: 2020 feb 1 to 2020 oct 14 : RM 14.90. 2020 oct 14 to present: 23.80. I am a member and can't see the price change. Not a good time to contact the owner of the plan atm.

Hey @BnT123,

You're welcome!
Yes, you can find your Spotify receipts here, and you can select one of them to see it in more detail.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hey Billy,

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately when I was redirected to the 'Receipts' section, it says 'No receipts found'.

Hey @BnT123,

Only the owner of the Premium for Family subscription can see the receipts as they are the ones who upgraded to Premium for Family.

Before the price increase takes place, you'll get emailed to know when new prices will become effective and the new price points for Premium plans. Currently, there is no chart on Spotify that can show the timeline. You can always head here for more information about the different subscriptions.

I hope this helps.
