My Question or Issue

I'm curious as to how many yearly gift codes I can stack on my account. For example, I just bought a gift code for 1 year of premium and it expires on November of 2020. I want to add another gift code for it to expire on 2021, and another one so that it expires on 2022 and so on. Is there a limit on how many yearly gift codes I can stack on my account? Just because I hate paying monthly and would rather just buy a bunch of gift cards and forget about paying with my credit card for Premium. Thanks in advance.

Hi there @Hermandshot,

Thanks for the reply, but the page you linked had no info on the question I was asking. I wanna add more years to my premium subscription with gift cards but I don't know if I can stack them. For example, Xbox has a game subscription service that let's you stack gift codes for up to 36 months. What I wanna know is if Spotify also has a limit on how many gift cards for yearly premium you can stack on your account. I don't wanna buy a bunch of gift cards only for them to not work like I wan them to.

Hi @Hermandshot,

Sorry my refrence didn't help.

However, i think i understand your question better now.

As gift cards for Spotify are actually codes you get and redeem through your account overview, you'll not be able to enter more than one each time.

That means that if you enter a code for 1 year, you'll need to wait till it's over and then enter a new one - unstackable to answer your question.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest waiting until a few days before your existing Premium subscription expires, then entering the new code.  If the remaining days are tacked onto your account, chances are you're good to go and future cards can be stacked.  If you lose the remaining time, at least you're not out that much.

I recently redeemed a $10 Spotify gift card and bought have another $10 card ready to redeem.  I'll wait until about 25 days in before redeeming the new card.  If the cards are stackable, the end-date of service should be 35-36 days from the date the second code is redeemed.

Hey there @DigitalDriver,

Just jumping in here to confirm that gift cards are stackable, but there is a 18-months limit to the amount of Premium months you can stack up at one time.

If you try to redeem a gift card that would add Premium on top of this limit, you'll see a corresponding error message. You'll then have to wait the appropriate number of months before you can add more Premium.

Hope this clarifies things. Let us know if you have any other questions!

I thought that was the case as well, only stacking up to 18 months, but I stacked two 3-month gift cards to get 6 months and ran out today (3 months after I submitted both cards).

Maybe I did something wrong??

Hey there @CrowsMurder,

Thanks for the post.

It may be that second gift card has not been activated when you've tried to redeem them both in the same day.

What you can do is try to redeem the code of the card again and see if that works. If it doesn't, have a look at this support article for some more helpful tips. You can also reach out to our customer support team who can have a look at your account backstage and see what exactly has happened. You can do this by hitting the "contact us" link in the article.

Keep us posted on how you get on.
