Hey @Maniclarke8,

Thanks for reaching out. Spotify gift cards can only be redeemed on Spotify accounts registered in the same country where they were purchased.

You could send your friend the amount (via PayPal, for example) so they can buy the Gift Card themselves. 🙂

Hope this helps!

Appreciate the clarification but this is a TERRIBLE business model. Given that the majority of people currently using streaming services have friends all over the world, limiting their ability to give a gift of something that is LITERALLY a nonphysical entity and then simply shrugging and going “just give them the money” shows a lack of understanding regarding world-wide relationships/friendships, cultural customs (in some places around the world handing someone a wad of cash as a gift is considered cold and offensive because it’s impersonal), and just basic safety and security. I was literally able to gift someone else two days ago a gift card to another app by simply purchasing the gift card of that app electronically within the app itself and it gave me a link to share with the person. She didn’t even get to see my first name as the gift giver. Just a nickname I chose. It was a person having a hard time and needed food so I helped out. I don’t know her well but I wanted another human being to have something she otherwise wouldn’t have been able to have. That this service right is incapable of doing something that small… I don’t even know what to say to that. Except that corporate greed is alive and well in Spotify and the wild thing is we WANT to give you our money. And you’re just telling us to jump through hoops. Okay. I’ll jump through that hoop… right to another app.

I agree so much.
I recently payed for duo premium for my friend and me and didnt know you had to be in the same country.
and when i refunded it the existing plan i was on got reverted to free like ... what and i cant even make a discusion about it cuz when i try to the site just keeps on loading.....

I agree so much. It is so frustrating. I have family in other country. I would like to pay for Spotify for them, but I can not due to some strange rules
