I want to switch from premium to free instantly to join another premium plan and avoid the wait

I am on a duo plan by myself and want to take someone else on another duo plan to my duo plan. But when we attempt to join via a link we get an error after inputting the address. I assume when the billing term for the month ends the link will work as i don't believe you can switch plans while on a Spotify plan but despite cancelling billing you still have premium until the next month to my knowledge.

Thanks for letting me know.

If someone has the regular Premium Individual or Premium Student plan, they're able to join a Premium Duo or Premium Family plan without any wait time.

If someone is the owner of a Premium Duo or Premium Family plan, though, they won't be able to join someone elses plan until their current subscription has ended.

So, if you'd like to lose any remaining Premium time and revert back to Free instantly, I recommend reaching out to Support to see if that's something that can be done: https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/ 🙂
