My Question or Issue

My monthly payment failed. I checked, there is enough money on a card and it’s working. When I was trying to update my payment method it wrote that it’s failed, please use another card. What is the problem? Why I can’t pay anymore? My card is in egp.

I have the same problem. I think it got to do with egyptian banks disallowing debit cards of egyptian pound accounts from making payments in foreign currencies. Though I think it's weird since the spotify post-payment sms I used to get from the bank stated that it was done in egyptian pound not USD.

Egyptian banks are rejecting payments made in foreign currency, which can lead to this specific issue at this moment. I recommend that you try one of the steps in this support article:

If the issue persists, the most recommendable is that you change the payment method to another one accepted in your country, as a workaround. The relevant teams are already aware of this issue, anyway.

Plan: Premium Student (24.99 EGP / month)

Country: Egypt

Devices: iPhone 14 Pro, HP Laptop

Operating Systems: iOS 17, Windows 11

 

Due to the decision of the Central Bank of Egypt, we're no longer able to subscribe to Spotify Premium plans

 

Because the Central Bank of Egypt stopped the use of Debit Cards and some Credit Cards for payment on international websites, and this decision was 3 months ago.

 

But it's good that Spotify provided a local payment methods such as:

Fawry, Vodafone, Etisalat, and Orange

 

But these methods are not available for all plans

 

On the Spotify Premium Benefits page, they display local payment methods through which we can pay, but on the payment page, these local methods are not available!

I tried using 3 different cards but to no avail

Spotify sent me an email telling me to use different payment methods, but the problem is that these methods are not available on the payment page

Thanks for coming to the Community.

 

Can you please try it again...

  • in a different browser
  • in an incognito window
  • on a different device
  • while being connected to a different internet connection

Also, please make sure that your card:

  • is issued in the same country as the country of your Spotify account
  • is open for foreign, recurring, and online payments. You may need to double-check this with your bank
  • has a 2-factor authentication set up

Lastly, the local payment methods you've mentioned work slightly differently, so they aren't found on the account page when updating the payment details.

Did you get it fixed? I am facing the same problem now. Tried to use another bank card and it did not work. I am surprised because spotify does not charge in foreign currencies! the bill is usually in EGP

I had the same issue. If you have Vodafone or Orange as a phone carrier, you can select the option to pay through carrier (make sure you have a sufficient balance first), then it will deduct the payment through that. I recently tried it, and it seemed to work. Good luck! Hope you're able to resolve the problem. 

Same here , we really need spotify egypt to find a solution for this problem or at least give us a working alternative for the premium family subscription

So is there no way to renew our subscriptions right now?

 

Well, I figured out how we can renew our premium plans in Egypt.

 

I tried to figure out how to renew it using the carrier method. However, when I try to use a different payment method, this option seems to be available in the other plans except mine.

 

First, I had to cancel my premium plan. Then I chose the individual premium plan (my previous plan) and the carrier method appeared.

 

I chose it and followed the steps, and voila!

I can't even use my student discount because none of the links are clickable

Would you tell us what other method we can pay with it in egypt.. Please try to work with fawry in egypt it will be helpfully with all your spotify users in egypt 

I don’t have that field either just visa or PayPal
