Premium Duo

Premium Duo

My partner and I both have spotify premium, so the duo is perfect for us. However if one of us changes our plan does the other have to set up a brand new account of can they use the account that they already have just minus the fee? both of us have a lot of music that we have saved that we don't want to loose!

if someone could offer guidance that would be amazing!

Hello @beckyedmonds

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community!

You can use your existing account and change your subscription to Premium Duo. That way you won't lose any playlists or follows and stats, it's just the subscription that changes.

All the payments will be taken care of by the plan manager (the person who started the plan) and the other person doesn't pay any other subscription fees and can enjoy all the Premium features.

Keep in mind that if you or your partner already have Premium through another company, you first need to cancel with them and wait for your current Premium to end.

Other members can also join the plan with their current accounts and keep all their libraries, or create new accounts to join if they want.

If they want to keep their current accounts with their libraries, they need to remember to log into their own account to open an invite, and not create a new account.

More details on how to start Premium Duo subscription and how to invite other  members can be found here

I hope you'll find this helpful!

Hello, I'm not sure that answer completely answered my question as well. If we both currently have Premium (directly through Spotify), I understand the part where I can go in and change the subscription and send an invitation. But does the person invited have to cancel their current Premium subscription or does the system automatically stop billing them when they accept the duo subscription invitation? Thx.

Hi @DubbleD

If the person who is accepting the invite is also subscribed directly with Spotify, after joining the Premium Duo, they won't be charged anymore. The billing switches automatically and all the subsequent payments will be made by the plan’s manager.

So there's no need for them to cancel the current subscription. They just need to make sure to accept the invite with the right account, and not creating a new one.

I hope that helps, but if you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Thank you!! That's exactly what I needed!

You're welcome, @DubbleD!

Have a nice day 🙂
