My Question or Issue

Longtime Premium duo user in Singapore 

 

recently started getting obnoxious loud ads while listening to MUSIC. Ads are US specific. Eg for Cox internet. 

reinstalled app twice.  Issue persists. 

Spotify support is terrible. Virtually impossible to find live chat support. Even posting here is terrible. Third attempt! 

close to canceling paid sub as I’m not getting what I paid for and support is abysmal.

What kind of device is it where you're experiencing this issue on? And does it only occur on that specific device or on all of your devices?

this is on an iPhone 12 Pro max playing through a Sonos speaker. This is my primary Spotify setup. My TV has its own app and doesn’t display this issue but I rarely listen to Spotify via the tv. 
As mentioned earlier, the issue is intermittent.

Can you please open the Spotify mobile app, then go to Settings and privacy and then click on Account? Does it say that you're on Free or Premium?

Have checked multiple times and it says premium duo monthly subscription

Thanks for letting me know. 

 

That definitely shouldn’t be happening with a Premium account. Since Sonos allows multiple accounts to be linked, it’s worth double-checking that the one in use isn’t a Free account by mistake. I’d recommend removing and re-adding your Spotify account in the Sonos app using the steps in this help article to make sure the right account is connected.

 

It’s also a good idea to test playing music via Bluetooth instead of Spotify Connect to see if the ads still show up.

Hello

i actually wasn’t using the Sonos app. I recently downloaded it to see if it would solve the issue — it did not. I’m confident this is not related to the Sonos speaker. 

I see multiple historical Spotify threads on the exact same issue. This seems to be a known bug which Spotify is unable or unwilling to fix.

Let’s try a couple more things to get to the bottom of this. Could you give it another shot by streaming via Bluetooth to your speaker instead of using Connect? This will help figure out if the issue is with the connection method.

 

Also, if you have access to a friend’s or family member’s Spotify account, try logging in with theirs to see if the same thing happens.

 

If you’re still getting ads, it’d be super helpful if you could make a quick screen recording of what exactly is happening.

I also have this problem. I am on Premium Individual, and I have started getting Ads between music and podcasts. These aren't the standard ads you get inside podcasts these are the type of ads you get if you're on the free service.

 

I'm on a Pixel 7a. I get this on my phone, when I connect to my Google speaker, and when I use Bluetooth in my car speaker.

 

Very frustrating. I've tried logging out and back in again and it still happens intermittently
