Using a gift card for 0.99 deal

So I want to buy the 0.99 for 3 months deal, but I’m unsure if I want to use a credit card as I feel it may be unsafe. If I buy a gift card from the store, can I use that gift card to get the 0.99 for 3 months offer? Or does it only work for regular subscriptions?

Neither prepaid cards nor Spotify gift cards can be used as a valid payment method for this offer.

To claim the offer, you need to use a recurring payment method (e.g. Credit Card). 🙂
