Why did Spotify take out more money than usual this month?

Why did Spotify take out more money than usual this month?

Every month since 2018, I’ve loaded $9.99 onto the bank account I use for subscriptions before the 26th, when Spotify takes our $9.99. This month, Spotify took out $10.69. I only had $9.99 loaded, was not informed of any subscription price hike or any ala carte add-ons, and ended up with a $32 overdraft fee. Did the premium subscription rate go up? Did I somehow accidentally do something to make premium cost 71¢ more this month? What’s going on?

Hey @tksoldierx,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

The prices of the Premium plans are shown on this page, under the type of subscription you're using.

We'd suggest that you take a look at your Receipts page. There you should be able to see all your charges from Spotify and check how much exactly you've been charged for a certain month. If the amount on your receipts page and the one on your bank statement differs and you see a bigger charge on your bank statement - it means the extra amount is most probably due to some extra bank-side charges for the transaction.

In any case, please check the payment status on your bank statement. If it shows as pending or processing, it’s only a temporary authorization charge made by your payment provider. The funds should be returned shortly. If it's not showing as pending/processing, we'd recommend that contact your bank and double check with them from where the added taxes or fees to your payment are coming from.

It's also worth mentioning that if your subscription price updates, you should receive an email notification beforehand. You can learn more about this here.

Hope it gets sorted out soon. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.
