"Spotify premium required" when logging into Spotify on Android with premium account

Solved!

"Spotify premium required" when logging into Spotify on Android with premium account

Plan: Premium Family Plan

Device: Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

Operating System: Android 2.3.4

Spotify version: 0.6.6.270

I'm unable to log in to my premium Spotify account on my old Android device. When I provide the correct login credentials it gives me a message saying "Spotify premium required", which is completely incorrect as my account is premium.

Spotify worked flawlessly on this device just a couple of months ago. I have validated the login details and that my account indeed has premium status. Restarting the device does not fix anything. The device is running the latest Android version it can, and I am unable to update the Spotify version.

Has Spotify changed anything with their login system recently? I would very much appreciate any insights in this issue. Thanks.

Hey @dkrantz ,

Thanks for reaching out.

If you're having troubles using Spotify on your device, you'll also need to make sure that particular device meets the current minimum system requirements.

Unfortunately, if your device doesn't meet the minimum requirements, it won't be possible to use Spotify and access Spotify content through the Spotify app or troubleshoot it properly.

You can check out Spotify's current minimum system requirements here.

Hope this clears things up 🙂

Hi Maxim. That makes sense, thanks! In the page you linked one can see that my device indeed does not meet the current minimum system requirements. Perhaps Spotify recently changed them, and that it is because of this it suddenly stopped working.

Hey @dkrantz ,

Yeah, that's likely the reason, unfortunately.

Have a great day 🙂
