A 1259 song playlist now only has 4 songs on it - why?

A 1259 song playlist now only has 4 songs on it - why?

Only change was getting a new phone (old one had playlist downloaded on it) and setting up Spotify on there.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Spotify won't remove songs on it's own. Therefore a couple of other possibilities exist, namely the following:

  1. Make sure that this is indeed the same playlist and not another one with a similar/identical name. If you still have your old device, use it to double check this.
  2. Were the songs on this playlist local files? If so, these obviously cannot be transfered via Spotify between devices. You can add the local files to your new device to have them there
  3. If the songs were all from the same artists/labels, perhaps this content is no longer available on the platform. Try searching for them within the app to see if this is the case. From the settings you can also enable "Show unavailalbe content" to make sure that this content still appears in the list, albeit greyed out.

Hope this clears things up.

Maybe related, but my playlist seems capped at 1258 songs

Hey there @bobberg90,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.

This is odd as the limit of songs in a playlist should be 10.000 songs. If you have a large collection of playlists, keep in mind that it can affect the performance of Your Library.

It might be worth creating a new playlist and moving all the songs to that one, then you can try to add some more songs to the new playlist to see if that does the trick. We'd recommend using the desktop app for this as it will make the process a bit easier.

Another thing you could try is performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any corrupted files that might be causing issues.

Keep us posted on how it goes.
