Allow Xbox to use Local Files

Allow Xbox to use Local Files

Just yesterday I learned how to add my own music via files on my mobile device. And I logged in today to be disappointed to find that I can’t at least stream the files onto my Xbox, may we have a fix for this?

Hey @GhostyTheOne,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us 🙂
Local Files can only be accessed from the device they are physically present on.
As these files do not get uploaded anywhere, playing them via a different device such as the Xbox console will not work.

Hope this clears things up! More info on Local Files can be found here.

Then maybe streaming from mobile would work? Or some way to upload them onto Xbox?

Hey again @GhostyTheOne 🙂

In case you have the files present on the mobile device, you'd be able to stream them from it.
They will not sync and will be greyed out if they've been added via a different device.

And, as for the Xbox, Local Files are not supported on consoles.
You can always use a USB drive and play them via the Xbox's media player, but the files will not be accessible through Spotify.

Let us know in case any further questions arise 🙌🏼
