My Question or Issue

I noticed that it didn't seem like my local files had synced in some time and when I clicked on a local file to play it wouldn't. I turned the feature off, wiped the cache and turned it back on. Now it can't see any files. I've tried this with the files on my sd card and on the music folder of my main memory. It still won't see them even if I select the file and try to play it in spotify. Any ideas of a fix? I have a lot of librivox audiobooks on my sd card, could the sheer number of files be confusing it? Is there any way to tell it to look at the local files on my device only? (I use a different app to listen to them so don't need access in spotify, I only use my spotift to listen to music)

Hey there @Emmalthompson85,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

First we'd like to mention that the feature allowing syncing of local files between devices is in the process of being deprecated, so it's expected to see some issues with it. With that said keep also in mind that the files need to be copied over locally on the device and added through the Spotify app on mobile. More info and steps you can find in this article.

When it comes to using an SD-card, sometimes corrupted cache on it can cause different issues with Spotify's performance so we recommend removing it, saving the local files directly onto your phone's memory and then trying again to see if that'll change anything.

Keep us posted on how it goes 🙂
