My Question or Issue

Okay, you know how when you have a playlist, whatever the top 4 tunes are automatically create a collage image at the top next to the title? That seems to be broken for one of my lists and I can't figure out why. I've got playlists for every year for the 70s, 80s and 90s, and it's just the 1972 one that's broken. All it displays is a dark grey box with a musical note icon in the middle. I've tried rearranging the playlist to put different songs at the top, doesn't work, nothing appears. I've tried creating a new list and re-adding everything - the picture of the first tune comes up fine, but as soon as I add the fourth tune the grey box is back again. What's up here?

Hey @NorthStarAvalon ,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you share a link to the playlist so we can check it out on our end? Do you have local files in the playlist?

When you add the fourth tune, do you mean you add the same tune every time or this happens with different 4th tunes as well?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

It looks fine on the web though (but in the wrong order), just won't work on the program at my end. It's just those four tunes too. I can start a list with other songs at the top and it works fine, as soon as I move these four to the top though, instant grey box. And after that it doesn't matter what adjustments I make, the grey box remains. I've attached what it looks like on my program.

Oh, also there's no local files in there. It's all the Spotify database.

Hi there @NorthStarAvalon,

Thanks for the info.

This issue is very odd indeed. I tried reproducing this on my end and it is how you describe it. I created a new playlist with the songs: 'Stay with me', 'Can't let go', 'Morning has broken'. After that I added 'Let's stay together' and the 4-albums cover image disappeared. I tried with other songs and combinations, but it worked fine without issue. The only thing that seems to cause the cover art to disappear is putting the songs 'Let's stay together in position number 4'. If I move it somewhere else, the image cover updates fine when I reload the app.

I guess that this is an issue with the metadata of one of these tracks. I've reported this to the right folks at Spotify, but can't say for sure if this is something that will get handled in upcoming updates.

I'd recommend creating a new playlist and adding your songs inside, without the one that seems to cause this issue. After that add it in the playlist, but not at position #4.

Alternatively, you can just upload your own image as a cover of the playlist.

Hope this helps.
