Can't access local files on other devices (PS5, mobile...)

Can't access local files on other devices (PS5, mobile...)

I've uploaded local files on my pc (Windows 10) so I could listen to them on my PS5. I created a playlist, put the files I wanted in it and bought premium. The songs were playing on Spotify from my computer so no problem about that. But then I tried to access the playlists on my PS5 and both were showing with the number of songs I put inside it but when I clicked on it, it said the playlists are empty, on my mobile (Xiaomi, Android) the songs were showing but greyed out. What am I doing wrong ?

The ability to play local files stored on a PC on other devices has never worked 100% of the time and is consistently spotty.

It's the same issue I'm having right now. You and I are in the same boat.

Maybe try unchecking the folder in Spotify settings, removing the songs in question from the playlist(s), then re-adding the folder back in Spotify settings and adding the songs back to the playlists you had them in? Clearing the Spotify cache on your devices probably couldn't hurt, either.

I dunno. Like I said, this isn't a feature they've ever had working every single time.

Hey @Nikushimi,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

I think you're not doing anything wrong, it's just that the way Local files work has changed recently and you can read more about this here. Basically, synchronization of your Local files over the local network to other devices (your PS5 in this case) is not supported and so to be able to play the Local files on different devices, the files need to be present on the particular device itself. Also, there is a toggle for allowing the discovering of Local files that needs to be turned to on in the app for that specific device. You can also check our FAQ on this here.

Hope this info clears things up. If you have any questions or need anything else, the Community is here for you.
