Hi so I just switched from individual spotify premium to premium for family. I created a new account when joining family so that I could start over with my music tastes.
I noticed that I can no longer create playlist folders on my desktop app? I was able to before, just earlier today before I signed out and then signed into my new account that's linked to the family plan. Can someone tell me what's going on?
For reference, I have a macbook and my account is in the U.S.
Hi there @angehee,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.
Would you mind letting us know if you've already tried performing a clean reinstall of the app? This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any corrupted files that might be causing trouble.
If this doesn't do the trick, could you send over your device's exact OS version and the Spotify version you're currently running?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Hey @Lucky_Carms,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Let us know if you notice anything new after the clean reinstall.
In case you've tried any other troubleshooting steps, let us know so we can give you better suggestions.
We'll be on the lookout.
IT WORKED! my next playlist folder will be named Novy. Thank you
Hi @Lucky_Carms,
Thanks for your reply.
We're glad to hear that things are now working as they should!
If anything else comes up, we're always a message away.
Have a great day 🙂
Hey @Lucky_Carms,
Thanks for keeping in touch.
Let us know how it goes with the clean reinstall this time. In case the issue persists, could you let us know if the option Create folder isn't shown, or if you see it but it doesn't work?
We'll be looking out for your reply.
Hi - The issue keeps resurfacing and each week I have to delete spotify and reinstall it. Basically, I can create playlist folders and add playlists to them but I can't rename the folders. So they are just called "rename folder". The option to rename them keeps disappearing. Really strange.
Hi @Lucky_Carms,
Thank you for your reply.
Can you try to create a playlist folder from a different device?
If that doesn't do the trick, can you log in with a different account - such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persist? This will help us understand if it's account related or not.
Keep us posted 🙂
Take care!
Hi again @Lucky_Carms,
Thank you or your reply and confirmation.
Take your time 🙂
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hello - A note that when I found my kid to try out what you suggested...she taught me how to "right click" on a MacBook. And blammo - I could rename my playlist folders. Thank you!
Until today I could create playlist folders with no problem. However, now when I try to create a folder the New Folder appears, but then vanishes after a second. I tried the web player, but it won't even display the New Folder.
I did a complete manual uninstall and clean re-install of the Desktop App.
Problem persists.
I just posted the reply about not being able to create folders. I also cannot create new playlists.
Hey @fdleone,
Thanks for sharing what you've experienced.
Could you let us know approximately how many folders you currently have? Are they rather many, like, over a hundred?
You could try deleting a few and then creating a new folder/playlist. Don't worry about losing your deleted playlists: you can restore them later by visiting your account page here.
Keep us in the loop.
Cheers!
