Daily/Weekly mixes not updating

Daily/Weekly mixes not updating

I am encountering the same annoying issue that many have previously reported, where all of my weekly and daily mixes - Chill Mix, Daily Drive (except the podcast bits), Discover Weekly, etc - never refresh/update. They have been stuck on the exact same songs since I switched back to Spotify a month ago on the account I made a decade ago (after using competitors for many years).

 

I contacted Spotify Support and was told to reinstall the app on my iPhone, despite the issue being present everywhere, and was told there was no other solution unlike what previous threads said about 'refreshing the account'. I also used the Spotify website to log out of all devices simultaneously in case that would help but neither that nor reinstalling the app have had any effect, as expected.

 

I really need a solution to this because otherwise Spotify is worthless to me when I've not had this issue on any other streaming platform, which would suck because Spotify is better than most others in some other ways.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

Since you recently came back to Spotify just a month ago, make sure you listen to new/different music and you should start seeing new recommendations in the coming weeks.

For personalized playlists such as Daily Mix and Discover Weekly, you can improve the suggestions by liking and disliking songs as mentioned in this article.

By following these suggestions, the app will adjust your recommendations 🙂

This does not help. This issue has plagued Spotify users for years, each with thousands of liked songs like me. Playlists are meant to update on their timeframes, so them not after a month suggests an actual issue with the servers.

 

 Indeed the mixes I am stuck with were generated based off my liked songs from 8 years ago as I added all my liked songs from other platforms the next day, so clearly liking songs has absolutely no effect on mixes being bugged and not updating.

 

 So yes I find it difficult to have any faith whatsoever in what you’ve said.

The same thing happens with me. I only managed to get it to update once when reinstalling and then it went right back to not updating 😞 they should really fix this problem

I'm having the same issue - updates happen sporadically at best, nowhere near daily or weekly.  

Any updates on this?

After listening to more stuff i like manually and another week it seems to have mostly fixed itself thankfully.

I did reinstall the desktop app and such first though which didn’t help at the time but may have had positive effects afterward.

Well... here it is nearly 6 months later... still not changes?

I believe they just named the "Daily Mix (nth)" wrong... they should be called "Bi Monthly Mix (nth)".
They are clearly not daily... and I have six of them... all the same as yesterday... all the same as last week.

I even deleted my profile data... Spotify rebuilt it (minus all my previous settings, of course), but still... the same old songs.

Clearly a broken feature, whether anyone choses to admit it... or not.

PS: Tying the "PREVIEW" button to the "reCAPTCHA" is beyond annoying...

Hi, I'm having the same issue as the original commenter. This solution does not work at all. I've listened to various podcasts, attempted updates and uninstalling, etc. Despite this, I have had the same exact podcast episodes showing up for THREE months. Please offer some help beyond these generic answers! I would love the assistance.

Thanks for your replies here. Let me try give you more info on the topic.


If you're listening to more new music on a daily basis your personalized playlists will update more regularly, this is how the algorithm works. Now, take into account that if most of the music you listen to comes from your personalized playlists (like Discover weekly, Daily Mix, Daily Drive etc.) the new suggested content won't update as often. It's worth mentioning that of these playlists update weekly, so please give them some break, explore actively some new music and check in the coming weeks and let us know how it goes.
 

Also, for personalized playlists (such as the Daily Mix), you can improve the suggestions you receive by liking and disliking songs as mentioned in this article.

This answer isn’t accurate. If you see the issues users are describing (I’m one) this is functionality that was working and now stopped. Manually changing or searching for music to listen to does not solve the issue. 

I agree with all users here.   I continually listen to different music that I have searched for but the Daily Mix's NEVER refresh with new content. I have cleared my cache, logged out etc etc etc.

If customers keep telling you there's an  isuue.. maybe there's an issue. 

Please provide a solution - not the same copy and paste response that leads to further customer frustration.

 

This has just started happening to me in the last couple of weeks after years of it not happening. Not a single change in the daily playlists regardless of what I do. This is clearly an issue with Spotify's service, not client glitches or whatever else they're chalking it up to.

 

I'm not suggesting the daily updates were great when they were working, it all gets very samey if you only play them, but at least they were changing. Now nothing, nada, zip, SFA. Sadly I don't expect them to be able to fix it any time soon either because they seem incapable of dealing with even simple issues these days. Or unwilling, which is worse.

It's really frustrating to see Spotify not addressing this issue even over the past few years!!

If it doesn't update every day, don't call it a 'Daily Mix'.

 

 

Surely even if the Daily Mixes worked off my "listened to" songs - I listen to dozens and dozens of songs daily.  How can it be the Daily Mix is still showing the same 50 songs for weeks at a time.  I have definietly listened outside my "bubble" recently but my daily mixes haven't updated in 2 months+

Thank you!  I was wondering how often the Daily Mix nth is updated. Apparently, it seems they are rarely updated. The canned answers from Spotify tend to be useless: add more songs, uninstall & reinstall. If several people are having the same issue, it's a technical issue with spotify not the app.  Just like the shuffle the playlist does not work correctly in the app, but works in the web or pc app.  We need to get ahold of someone higher up in the chain like a director or insider connections to get any sort of traction on an issue.

You know those playlists, auto-generated by Spotify, with names such as 'Cheerful Happy Mix', 'Vampire Mix', 'Poetic Mix' and other random names ending in 'Mix'? I find them fine, apart from the fact that the songs which are listed in them don't play, and instead other songs were playing instead? The songs playing instead still fitted the playlist's vibe, but it's not what I was told would play. I think it might have something to do with the fact that it's a playlist which updates itself daily/frequently, if so it means that for some reason the list of songs isn't updating, yet it's playing a new batch of songs. 

This isn't a new issue either. It happened on my previous phone as well (hence the listing of two phones). This means it may be something to do with the playlists themselves, not my phone. Maybe it's something to do with my account, but I wouldn't think so. If something was wrong with my account, more would be going wrong.
