My Question or Issue
About doubled albums – it appears that some artist have two or more instances of the same album. If I had some of them added to my library and then another instance of the same album appears, the older version becomes unavailable and the new version is not in the my library anymore. Same applies to the liked songs from that album. Why is this happening?
About missing albums – when some artist release some Special or Limited or Anniversary edition or even re-recorded version of some of their existing albums – the original version of the album become unavailable and thus removed from my library. So, besides that I have to add the new version of the album again to my library, I also can’t listen to original or older versions of that album. Why?
Attached is the example for the missing albums - since this Deluxe edition, the original versions of both of original albums it contains (so, Keepers 1 & 2) are not available anymore.
Both of this things happening very often lately. It’s very annoying and not the experience I expect when paying for premium.
Hi @Laza26,
Thanks for reaching out.
Ultimately, that boils down to what the artist and their publisher provides to Spotify. Sometimes albums get removed and replaced with remasters or special editions, sometimes multiple editions are available and sometimes albums become entirely unavailable. This availability can vary over time and between countries, depending on the permissions from rights holders. This is something outside of Spotify's direct control, whatever the owners of the content provide is what will be available in the app.
As a heads up, when an album has multiple versions available, sometimes they are listed separately, but sometimes they are listed on top of each other. On the Desktop app, open the album, scroll to the bottom and look for a drop-down menu in the bottom right corner that details multiple versions of that album being available. You can then use said menu to switch between them.
Hope this clears things up.
Hi Joan,
Thanks for your reply.
I understand both of the things, that whatever the owners of the content provide is what will be available in the app, as well as the dropdown option for the albums where multiple versions are available on top of each other.
Maybe I didn't describe the issue precisley enough. What's also happening lately, besides the mentioned issues, is that some albums seem to get doubled in a way that one version is in My Library, with all liked songs still there but it's unavailable to reach it anyhow, even with the mentioned dropdown. And then, there is another, completely the same version of the same album but it's not in the my library and none of the songs from it are in the liked ones, so it looks like I have to add it again to My Library if I want to. But before I do that, wheh I go to check liked songs from that artist, the liked album is there, the liked songs from it are there, but if I click on them - I'll get the version of that particular album which is not in My Library.
Also, when this happens, the new version of the albums and songs won't appear in my Daily Mixes anymore because they are not in My Library anymore. That's what bothers me, I already had to add a lot of albums or songs again and again, some of them like 3-4 times, just because this issues with different versions keep happening...
Thanks for returning with this info, @Laza26.
So we can have a further look, could you send us a video recording showing how the described issue looks like from your end? It'd be great if you could include all that you've mentioned.
You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. If the attachment is too big - we'd suggest that you upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it) or upload it as unlisted YouTube video.
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
Hi Ivelina,
Thanks for your response.
Here's the video you've asked for. What you will see that I have one song liked from one particular album back in the 2022 and the same song from the doubled version of the same album. I guess I can't like the same song on the same album twice...
Anyway, when I go to the "older" version of the album and like another song and then click on the doubled version of the album, newly liked song appears there as well.
Also, you will see in the video other doubled liked songs from the same artist, the same thing happens with 4 of their albums.
Here's the video link on Google Drive:

Hey @Laza26,
Thanks for providing the video and for reporting this issue to us.
Unfortunately, we can't give you an ETA for a fix, so in the meantime, just make sure to keep your app up to date on all devices.
Thank you again and please, do let us know if there's anything else you wish to address.
