My Question or Issue

My problem is that I have duplicate songs in my library of liked songs. And it's not about different songs from different albums, but the same song that somehow appears twice in my list. The worst thing is that when I uncheck the heart icon next to one of them, the other song just disappears from my list also (so I can't get rid of only one of the duplicated songs because the other one is removed too).

Hey there @lubieplacki66,

Thank you for your post here in the Community.

In this case we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

if that doesn't do the trick, can you let us know if this occurs on one specific device or multiple devices?

We'll keep an eye our for your reply.

Take care!

As I wrote in OP this problem affects all systems (I checked Windows and Android) and all devices (PC and Smartphone).

Following your advice I reinstalled App on Windows but it didn't help 😞

It is still removing two liked songs when I will uncheck a heart icon for only one track.

Hey again @lubieplacki66,

Thank you for your reply.

Can you send us the URI:s of the duplicate songs so that we can have a closer direct look?

Also, do you remember how the songs were added to the liked songs? for example, did you like the song on the artist page, album, etc?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Take care 🙂

https://open.spotify.com/track/5edEdqCBHyeyF8RhmY6JQr?si=nwVSaa02QEyh0oh8KRvLeA

Probably I added those songs using portal:

https://www.tunemymusic.com

I was migrating for the first time from my local files. Second time was migrating from Tidal.

Hey @lubieplacki66,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Note that such external services are not officially supported by Spotify and issues may come up when using them. Could you let us know what happens when you try liking a song again after removing both duplicates? Does the track get added two times again to the Liked Songs playlist? If not, we recommend using this workaround to help sort your library.

As for the local files - keep in mind that in order for them to function properly, they need to be imported using this guide. Note that only files obtained from an official distributor are supported. If your having any issues with your imports, we recommend that you remove them from your playlists, add them to a different local files source folder and start the process from scratch.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.

When I'm re-adding problematic song to favorites it is not duplicated. But it will not be the workaround because I have 3000+ songs liked. I can't image adding them again manually.

By importing local files I mean liking them with help of the mentioned service. Imagine that I'm able to import the playlist of my songs from PC to https://www.tunemymusic.com and by scanning them on Spotify this external service forces to like them.

I don't need Spotify to be audio player of my local files but I wish to have a playlist of my local files to by saved on Spotify to be playable also on my mobile devices.

Hi @lubieplacki66

Thanks for your reply.

We understand that this could take some time. However, as @Mihail mentioned, these external services could cause some issues as they're not officially supported by Spotify.

Also, keep in mind that the only way to add Local Files to the app is following the previously mentioned guide. After adding them to your computer, you can download the playlist with the Local Files to your mobile device.

If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to let us know.

Cheers.

Hi everyone,

I have the same issue!

There are duplicates among my liked songs. However, I did not use any third party tools. These are songs that I added when they came up in some playlist. I can see these duplicates on all devices.

When I try to remove one of them, both are removed. After readding it, at first there is no duplicate. But after some time, I guess a few months, the same song is duplicated again.

For me, it is this song:

https://open.spotify.com/track/4qxK1lnNoYm1kevG69mhHU?si=DIfdbkS1SQOmKRPKnkZFZg&utm_source=copy-link

https://open.spotify.com/track/2iAKdkFVSjVUUykW5seYkE?si=GXM2MKFcS9SenEQ0HMxQAg&utm_source=copy-link

I have a similar problem. I have liked songs 4 years ago, but when I visit artist profile, those songs show up as not liked, but they show in the right sidebar thing that shows songs liked of this artist.

It might be some kind of spotify bug, this problem appeared maybe a year or two ago. And it doesn't seem to be getting fixed anytime soon.

I can like those songs again and they start appearing as duplicates in liked list.

Hey folks!

These songs seem to have different unique identifiers. Maybe the song has been reuploaded in the past with a new URI.
As such, the pairs old+new song versions behave as if they're linked - removing one removes both and adding one eventually leads to the the other one showing up as well.
This is known but we cannot provide you with an exactly estimated timeframe for a fix yet.
We'll keep you posted as soon as anything new comes up though!
Thanks for understanding 🙂
And cheers!

This bug still occurs, doesn't seem to have been repaired. The song that was liked in June 12 (50 days ago) was showing up as unliked today during a play, so I liked it again and now there are this same song liked twice in liked songs list.

Chiming in to say this is an issue for me as well, I frequently see songs I know I have liked in the past in playlists displayed as if they have not been liked. I can go to that artists profile and see the song under the “liked songs” link still. If I like the non-liked song, I then get a duplicate addition to the “liked songs” section. If I then unlike either of the songs, both “versions” are removed from the “liked songs” section.

if you have this problem you can remove them on this site https://spotify-dedup.com it worked for me, but if you want the older one to stay idk what to do because this will remove it and the new will stay

I know that there's loads of posts like this already, but they all say solved and its still an issue for me.

I've been listening to Kendrick Lamar on shuffle, and I've liked a few songs from an album I've already liked songs from, but when I click the song name to go to the album it doesn't say I've liked it? but then I go onto the album from the search bar and I have. it makes more sense as an image as its really confusing to type. some of the songs also show up as the original albums cover, even if I'm listening to the deluxe version. (first image is from clicking song title, second from search bar)

I have the same issue. Tracks liked, but on the search/artist/album pages no like at that song shown.

Occurs only on random tracks, usually when you relike track it corrects it, but you need to see if it also adds duplicate likes.

Clear both and relike again from a playlist. Works only if I manage to see incorrect track otherwise you never know.

Tried reinstall of Windows, always updated app.

Seems like it can happen when an artis reuploads their songs, can you please check if this is the case here? (Spotify can't identify these songs as the same one)

My Question or Issue

When I try to unlike one song which is in double, but with different ID, my library, both songs are removed.

As an example, it happened with the following songs :
https://open.spotify.com/track/5JXzof3ik4x4py2oPfPXMH?si=231cc0179b6442ed
https://open.spotify.com/track/6ckozbGmOusAnLT2LEbERy?si=8300aee389d446f2

If I unlike the first one, it will remove both of them. I'd like to keep one of them.

It forces me to do this and relike it which can be tedious while doing it in a big library.

I have the same exact issue! I realized I had multiple duplicates in my library and when I would remove one it would remove all of them. Same version. Same album. A lot of times it will be songs from several years ago that I've had in my library and it has let me re-add them to my "liked" songs and created tons of duplicates. It's a major headache when I see a playlist and think I don't have the song in my library already.
