My Question or Issue
I have the same issue on two different Windows 10 machines:
The dislike button in radio stations doesn't seem to be persistent across restarts of the desktop app. I read that dislikes are supposed to be cross-device, but even on one device it doesn't work. I can reproduce the following behavior with both machines:
1) Start a song radio and go into endless radio mode (after the 50th song)
2) Dislike a song (the message "we won't show this song in this station" appears)
3) Restart Spotify
4) Repeat Step 1)
5) After some time the disliked song will reappear.
I often get hooked on certain radios for a while and it's not uncommon for me to listen to the same radio for a week or even a few weeks, meaning I have to dislike the same songs every day because Spotify forgot what I disliked the previous day.
Hi @Vexxra,
Thank you for sharing your post on the Community.
To start, we'd like to check if your disliked songs remain properly hidden. Please head to this article to see which songs you've disliked and if they correspond to the ones that keep showing on your radio.
It's also worth checking if the songs that play repeatedly have the same URL as the songs you have disliked.
Let us know how this goes!
Even though I tried reinstalling the desktop app this article isn't working, as the setting to show hidden songs is not present in my settings, am I missing something?

Hi there @Vexxra,
Thank you for your reply and confirmation.
Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it since the steps will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.
If the issue persists, can you send save the URI of the song you dislike, and if it appears again - can you send us the URI again? Just make sure you retake the URI of the song that possibly appears again.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Take care!
Well not before, but now I did a reinstall with that article (no folders to delete in Roaming/Local though). The setting is still not there on the desktop application on my windows 10 machine (I can see the setting on my phone, but it doesn't seem to be cross device).
I tried to reproduce it again and did it on the desktop app. There's this song
https://open.spotify.com/track/1gdwFGXLC2cKdxbELLYvOC?si=e46a10425c674b76
that I disliked in an endless playlist of this radio
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1E8O55nWf2TIqy?si=3b990707f45141b4
Afterwards I restarted Spotify, restarted the radio, went into endless mode and after a lot of scrolling (~10 times through the 50 songs) there was this one again:
https://open.spotify.com/track/1gdwFGXLC2cKdxbELLYvOC?si=17533be4db5e497f
I guess the si= Part is from the Playlist and 1gdwFGXLC2cKdxbELLYvOC is the Track - what would be identical.
Hi @Vexxra,
Thank you for your reply.
We've checked and it certainly looks like the same song, so there are some things we can try here.
Can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists? Alternatively, you can create a free account here, just make sure you're logged out of your own account before creating a new one.
Also, you mentioned this issue occurs in two computers. Have you tried using a different device such as a phone?
Keep us posted.
I did test both.
1) Reproduction on my phone. This was a tricky one, because in endless radio on the phone the button to see the palylist on the bottom right is disabled. Basically I don't know what's playing next unless I press "next". I tried to reproduce it and skipped through ~150 songs and the disliked song never appeared. It seems to work fine on my phone.
2) Reproduction with another account. I logged out of Spotify on my PC and had my wife log into spotify. We tried the same: start a radio in endless mode (I never tried if the normal 50 song radio has the same issue), dislike a song, restart spotify and go back into the radio. The disliked song appeared again, so it was present on her account too.
If it helps, I was able to reproduce and film this with a very small clip:
Hi there @Vexxra,
Thank you for your detailed reply and confirmation.
We're not able to get the same behavior as we tried from our end.
Can you install the app from the Microsoft app store instead of the website to see if the issue persists?
Also - can you check if the same thing happens on the web player, and if the app remembers the choice if you're using a different network?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Cheers!
I am experiencing the same issue, primarily on desktop. I can have it say "got it, we wont show this song in this station again", and then have it show the song again almost immediately. It does this to any song as far as I can tell.
Hey there @Radioproblems2,
Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.
Could you let us know if you've already tried the steps mentioned previously in this thread?
On another note, we'd like to know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update.
Keep us posted.
Yes I have done all the steps, It will put a disliked song straight back on the list the instant it refreshes the radio from listening to enough songs. It continues to do this even immediately after a clean reinstall. I can't tell if this corresponds with an update as I wasn't using the radio feature much until recently.
Hey @Radioproblems2,
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, is this happening when logging in with a different device?
Also, let us know if you have the same result when logging in with another account on your main device.
We'll stay tuned.
Yes, the problem remains on multiple devices, it also occurs with a brand new account on the main device. songs will skip when I hit dislike then reappear whenever it reloads the songs.
Also why does the show unplayable songs toggle not exist yet you still have articles on how to reach it? its just misleading people. (mine does say it is hiding unplayable songs on mobile, and the problem still occurs anyway so it wouldnt help)
Hey there @Radioproblems2,
Thanks for the post.
I've tried to reproduce this on my devices. When I Hide a song on Mobile, the song won't appear hidden on Desktop, but it won't be played and will be skipped. The song does appear as Hidden on the mobile app though.
Can you let us know if hidden songs in Radio are playable on any of your devices, or do they just appear in the playlists?
Keep us posted.
The songs are playable and not hidden on desktop,
the songs are unplayable but appear on mobile (The ones I've disliked on desktop) Also mobile is definitely ignoring the hide unplayable songs setting as I've tried turning that on and off to zero effect. (IOS)
Hey there @Radioproblems2,
Thanks for the info.
This sounds like the Desktop app is having trouble keeping up with writing cache for the app. This could be due to some corrupted files on the Desktop app or due to networking restrictions.
First of all you can try connecting your PC to another network, like a mobile hotspot, to test if it's a network issue.
Next do a clean reinstall, following this Guide on your Desktop app again, but do not reinstall the app yet. After that try clearing any entries containing "Spotify" from your Hosts file, as described here. After this reinstall the app.
Let us know if the issue still persists.
