Entire playlist of local files grey'd out - why??

My Question or Issue

I  have a playlist of local file tunes. Until very recently I was able to play them. Within the last week or so, I've noticed that the tune files are all grey'd out, & I can't play them using the laptop. And when I try to play  the tunes on my iphone5, no tunes appear in the playlist.  What happened?  All was fine until a week ago or so.

Are the local files listed in the Local Files menu? Can you play them from there?

Some are & some aren't. There is an entirely different set of local files
(a whole bunch that I don't remember putting there) in the local file
playlist. They are different tunes from what I had in myother playlist
that is now grey'd out.
