My Question or Issue
When searching for personalized playlists, Google Assistant devices re-direct to random albums with similar names.
I've got a routine within the Google Home app to “shuffle my daily mix 3 on Spotify”
Until mid April it worked as expected, recently it’s starting playing Daily Drive. I’ve messed around with the wording & sometimes it plays songs recommend to me (Based on the album Daily Mix 3 by Luis Masters) but will no longer play the thing I’m after.. My daily mix 3.
This has been an issue in the past with the album by Luis masters, I got around it by changing the wording but no luck this time.
Can this be looked into please.
Also having this issue, even when using the keyboard option for Google Assistant to type added and precisely spelled words for clarity, the command is overridden by Google's interpretation with an obscure result. Yet when I type into Spotify's search, the top result is what I intended to play.
Additionally, when I play Spotify's "Daily Drive" from Google Assistant, it will play the version from several days prior and will only play the updated version if I go into the app and let it refresh to today and then have Google play it.
I have unlinked Spotify as my music provider, rebooted Google, re-linked Spotify, cleared phone app cache, uninstalled, and reinstalled Spotify on my phone with the same result.
My current workaround is to open the Spotify app on my phone, select and start playing what I want to listen to, pause it, then ask Google to "play music" on a particular device and it will pick up where my phone's Spotify app left off.
Mine has started doing this in the last few weeks. I have disconnected and reconnected my google/spotify link and it still doesnt work.
I have 3 google devices and they all do the same thing.
Hey Google, play daily mix X
hey Google play my spotify playlist (Custom name)
Automations setup to play daily mix X
Any suggestions as it sounds like it was fixed by other last time?
Hi Maria,
My Spotify has started doing this over the past few week. I have unlinked and relinked my accounts and nothing works.
Just this morning i said, "Hey Google, Play Daily Mix 4" and it p[layed a daily mix 4 from Luis Masters (which i have never listened to ever)
What was the fix last time? Sounded like it was a fix by others?
URGENT!!!
THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN TODAY!!!
I use this functionality daily!!!
The problem came back TODAY!!!
Please fix it!!
This is very very annoying!!
Spotify!!! Please try and fix this with Google...
Google support is incompetent, at best!
Just contacted them with all this info, including the NEW topic on the Google community about THIS same problem, and they didn't escalate the issue! They wanted me to do a bunch of the usual things that won't solve anything. I rebooted the devices, unlinked and linked spotify, etc... and they wanted MORE!
So, please, take action from your side like the last time, otherwise we will not have this problem fixed, yet again!!

Unlinking and relinking the music provider WON'T fix anything!
This is not on "our" side.
Google or Spotify messed up something again!
Also, SPOTIFY didn't told US last time what the FIX was OR who introduced it (i asked several times - check the answers here). It could be Google / Spotify or BOTH.
Please acknowledge this issue... it's NOT solved anymore!
This definitely isn't fixed and needs to be. Make it so we can play playlists from the Spotify code. That way it knows exactly what playlist to play
It was really fixed back in JUNE!
This week it was BROKEN again!
Who is breaking this is beyond me... what i know is that this makes Spotify use on the Google Home / Nest ecosystem really painful!!!
Spotify WORKED with Google last time and "made some changes"!!
Maybe because Google changed something that required adjustments by Spotify?
Spotify said nothing back then (i asked several times here)
I know for a FACT that Google is always BREAKING functionality (i am aware of it because i have reported several annoying BUGS to Google and in the Google community - this is one of them)
Please also post in the Google Community so that Google can also take action (since we don't know who's fault this is!)
This issue recently started with my device as well. I've tried relinking and clearing my cache but it didn't resolve the issue.
It won't be fixed by anything you do...
This was broken on Spotify / Google side (AGAIN!)
Please post in the Google Community Topic also!! https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Google-Nest-Mini-play-wrong-songs-and-p...
Google is asking again for "nonsense" information (firmware, etc etc), i don't want to go though all this all over again (did it many many times with this problem and several others)
This is still broken for me as well and has been for a couple weeks now, incredibly frustrating. Exact same problem from over the summer as well where random songs, artists, and playlists with similar words in the title are being played instead of the correct playlist in my library. Relinking doesn’t work, uninstalling/reinstalling doesn’t work, unpairing speaker doesn’t work, this is clearly a bug on Spotify/Google’s end that needs to be fixed again.
Hey everyone,
Thank you for your messages and for making us aware of this behavior.
To investigate this again on our side, @chrixar, @marcolopespt and @Tagro1 include the following info in your next response:
- Your device info (make/model) and OS version
- Exact Spotify version
Also, and if possible; could any of you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
We'll be on the lookout for your response.
Same as described in this thread!!
Google Home Ecosystem (in my case 3 Google Nest Mini 2nd GEN)
Spotify VERSION is not at play here (please read old posts here, all info if already there)
Google DEVICES don't need SPOTIFY installed ANYWHERE to work!
Users just select it as the MUSIC PROVIDER on the Google Home APP, and that's it! After that, the DEVICES will PLAY Spotify when asked to "Play xxxxxxxxxxxxx"
This is the same problem as before, FIXED by you and GOOGLE back in June!!!
I've been trying to reply to this thread for the last hour but keep getting errors even here! Nothing seems to be posting for me. Trying one more time to send the info requested.
iPhone 14 Pro Max, iOS 18.1.1 (current release)
Google Home mini speaker, firmware version 437716, cast firmware 3.74.437716
Spotify version 8.9.94 (current release)
Google Home app version 3.26.103 (current release)
Originally I tried to link to a Drive folder, but I'll try to attach images here instead.
Image 1 shows two side by side screenshots, the left showing the play music action in my automation, the right showing how I have the command worded. This is the same way I've always had it phrased and it's always worked up until a couple weeks ago (and once over the summer the previous time this issue occurred). Image 2 shows what the speaker plays, which is the incorrect music, and instead, takes a random word from my playlist title and plays a random artist or album with the same word in it. Image 3 shows the main device page playing the incorrect music.
Hopefully this reply posts. Let me know if you need any additional info and thanks for looking into this for us.
I’m having the same issue. I’m trying to set up a routine and instead of playing my playlist that is very uniquely named. It plays something that vaguely has a part of the playlist name in it. I was able to get one of my routines to play a playlist of mine by renaming it as my last name. I figured if it worked for one it should work for the other if I put my last name and then a number at the end, it doesn’t. I tried replacing letters in my last name with numbers and symbols to make it even more unique and it pulls something obscure from Spotify that has the same beginning three letters of my last name. I decided to search my last name in the Spotify search bar to see if there was anything similar enough to warrant this issue, there isn’t. I’m using a Google home mini (GA00210-US), all apps are updated.
Same exact problem that i described in the beginning of the year and already FIXED by Spotify + Google.
The problem is "they" KEEP reintroducing que same problems OVER and OVER again!!!

Google no longer plays personal Spotify Playlists: See full Google community link https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/306130063/google-assistant-suddenly-not-playing-personal...
I have a personal Spotify playlist that i have been happily using for years with a lovely set of gentle tunes to wake me up. Google activation is now bypassing that and selecting random albums/playlists to wake me up. Not great
So far I have completed the following::
Oh i forgot to say, deinstalled and installed all the relevant apps and ensured all up to date IOS etc.
