My Question or Issue
How do we change the order of the playlists on our public profile? We used to be able to drag our playlists in order on the left side on desktop app. With the new update there is 'sort by' options but we can't do custom order? The desktop app looks just like the mobile app now. Is there a different way to change the order of our playlists?
Hey @chocokuma10!
The public playlists on your profile are displayed in the Custom order you've set in the desktop app / Web Player. To access the Custom order, you need to first set the Filter to Playlists. After that, the option will show up:
You should now be able to organize your playlists the way you see fit. Any changes to the order of your public playlists will be reflected on your profile as well. There's also this idea about being able to pin playlists on your profile so that they're always shown on top, which you may find interesting, so feel free to check it out and give it a thumbs up, if you haven't already.
For more info on the new design of Your Library check out this thread.
Take care.
did they get rid of this feature? i cannot seem to change the order of my public playlists anymore 😞
Hi @r9na!
I can confirm I'm still able to do this. Have you set the filter to Playlists? Otherwise, the Custom order option won't show up in the menu. Could you share a screenshot which shows how things look on your end?
Cheers!
i think they got rid of that feature entirely. did you update your spotify? now there's not playlist option
Edit: I think not all my playlists are public. Going through them now.
i changed the order of my playlists (you can see that on left side of screenshot) but the change was not reflected in Public Playlists (shown on right side). I logged out and back in but still no change to the order of Public Playlists. How do we change the order of Public Playlists?
Hey @connbates,
Thank you for joining the conversation and welcome.
If the order of the playlists on your profile is not the same one you have on the left panel, it's possible that some of the playlists are set to "Private" or are not displayed on your profile. In this case, we'd recommend making sure that all the playlists you want to display are set to "Public" and added to your profile.
To do so, you just need to right-click the playlist on the left panel and check if the menu displayed is showing the options "Remove from profile" and "Make private" as seen on the screenshot below:
Once you confirm that, organize the playlists in the order you want on the left panel and restart the app to apply the changes.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
Hi! It still doesnt work for me. I created a new account, put all the playlist I have in public. Change the order, i made sure that all of them were public and that I put the playlist filter. But still the order is still on "Recent"
Hi @chocokuma10,
Thanks for your reply in this thread.
I checked and I'm having no issues changing the order of the playlists. Try to log out and back in, and check if that makes a difference. Also, open the desktop and make sure you select the 'Playlist' filter, and then choose to sort by 'Custom Order'. Make sure the order is correct, restart the app, and check again. If it doesn't work, try doing it from the Web Player or a different device.
If nothing helps, send over a screenshot of the app or WebPlayer where we can see the 'Custom order' you have and how your Profile looks.
We'll see what we can suggest.
Is there any way to undo this? I had been organizing my playlist and had accidentally done this, but now i cant seem to undo it.
Is there a way to do this on mobile because when I try it doesn’t work
Does this work when you have folders? On my public profile the playlists appear in the order of my folders, but i cant seem to change the order of this ! its like just a random order of my folders 😞 how do i change this?
I agree, mine were in an order I wanted but now they're not and I've tried various things listed above - and they won't go how I want them. It's really frustrating!
This is supper frustrating! I literally changed the order that my playlists appear on my profile last weekend but now that function has been lost again!
What is Spotify doing?!
I can change the order of playlists in my library, but the most recently created list is first on my profile and I can't change its place. Why was such a useful feature removed? I want people to see my lists the way I ordered them. It's not an upgrade, it's an unnecessary downgrade, but why? Even if the custom order option is selected, it's still the same, only the list is correct in the library but wrong in the profile. Why does it have to be above my previously created lists just because I created a new list?
It still works, remember to unpin all your playlists and folders to put everything in order. Pining playlists or playlist folders doesn't change the order of appearance. Keep in mind.
