I'd like to remove a song from my history

I'd like to remove a song from my history

The app played this particular song over and over again overnight and I'd very much like to remove it completely from my history as I don't really listen to that artist and it always pops up as the most listened song on my Spotify every single time. It's "As it was" by Harry Styles.

Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

Listening history consists of the songs that you've listened to in the past and it's currently not possible to remove or delete items from this section.

We'd suggest that you try to discover new music - you can use the Radio feature or head to Search and choose a category where you'll find a lot of playlists made by Spotify, which you might like 🙂

While there's currently no way to manually delete songs from Recently played history - we'd recommend you leave your vote to this idea here if this is something you'd like to see implemented in the future. The more votes an Idea gets, the more likely it is to get implemented.

If you're interested in how ideas work and how your feedback reaches the right teams here, check this page out.

Hope this helps. If you need anything else, the Community is here for you.

How would this have helped ??? Be so fr rn. We just want to be able to CONTROL our OWN listening history.

I absolutely hate this.  Going to look at other music providers and probably cancel my account after more than 10 years.

And to top it off, im called a "newbie" by this site.

I've listened to a couple of moaning songs, now I'm scared if it pops up again when someone is around 🤦🏽‍♂️God!!!

Absolutely infuriating. I can go through my Youtube history and just X away the history of stuff I don't want impacting my recommendations but I can't on Spotify? I had autoplay turned off and it decided to autoplay a bunch of pop country garbage and now my recommendations are pop country. All I want to do is delete this play history, jfc.

My partner has been polluting my played songs using the Google speaker, which had my Spotify connected, so discovery is a complete mess. History deletion is very desirable as right now, with the algorithm being based on incorrect data, Spotify really isn’t any better than Apple Music so I’m weighing up my options now.

On a road trip we shared my phone in the car. Each person played a song starting with the next letter. Some were Fan fav's some were jokes. most were not my style of music.

While I can live with a good mix of music, some of the Joke tracks were TERRIBLE.

How do i remove them from my history? I don't want suggestions like these!

This. Had ASMR playing for hours without my knowledge and now that's all my DJ will try play. 🤦🏼‍♀️ We need a way to at least exclude specific music from the DJ options or something please.

My kids listened to something on my account and now I'm stuck with annoying songs that I can't get rid of. As often as I click to skip the songs, it should at least learn that I'm not interested in those songs anymore. I hope something is done to help remedy this issue, it's very frustrating.

I always mis-tap songs when I try to tap the three dots and it infuriates me how you guys removed the option to remove a song from your listening history. We get that you guys want us to listen to new stuff but it's annoying that we're paying for a feature you used to provide and we never even asked you to remove in the first place. And y'all not following user feedbacks will mess you up on the long run, just saying.

No, they want to keep you trapped in their discovery algo.

This need to come back. There are denial of service attacks where large movies as podcast episodes render Volvo Sensus Spotify player unusable.

I listened to some things in private and they get played as suggestions and they aren’t for all ears I need to be able to delete songs . You could listen to a song someone suggested and not like it and then get suggestions on it. Common Spotify fix this!

Not being able to remove songs from your history is awful not only because of the edge cases listed in this thread but it would be trivial to just let us do it. Stop being sleezy about this and restore the functionality that already existed for years.

TL;DR: FIX THIS ISSUE PLEASE I ALMOST GOT FIRED NO JOKE

Yeah so I made the mistake of turning the sound off after listening to a bunch of weird af songs like cpr with my friend bc she was like “what you’ve never heard of these?” And it looped the queue or something, because now my DJ wants to play that **bleep** at work so I straight up cannot use it or let my playlists end at all bc it auto plays similar nsfw songs! Did not even think this would be something I had to deal with because literally every other music provider I’ve ever used has had an easy “delete item from history” option. Good to know before I listen to a bunch of videogame osts lol

Love spotify but not allowing users to remove songs is a horrible UX decision.  Wonder what brilliant product team idea this is a part of.

I now just default to never playing any mix Spotify suggests for me. I mostly just search playlists made by other people that have tracks I like in.

I need this so much. Whenever Google Assistant misunderstands a request and Spotify plays a song I didn't want to hear, it makes it into the history and shows up on other Spotify apps (like my TV one). I just want to be able to open the history and swipe it out - it's OK if the author still gets my 'play', but Spotify shouldn't use it for my recommendations, and I never want to hear it again until I ask for it, or it's an actual recommendation.
