My Question or Issue
I’ve noticed more and more lately that songs I’ve had in my liked songs are being unliked or removed by Spotify without me knowing. I thought I was just forgetting when I remove songs from my music but I found an old Fall Out Boy song on a playlist that I knew I had in my liked songs but it wasn’t there. I went to the artist page and it said “0 liked songs”. I checked a couple other artists that I liked a few years ago and knew I hadn’t removed and also haven't heard for a while and they all said “0 liked songs”. It’s really frustrating to not be able to listen to music you like because the app or site is removing them somehow. If it’s a thing where Spotify sees songs I haven’t listened to in a while and takes them off, that’s more frustrating because I’ll assume it’s just in the shuffle somewhere that I haven’t reached yet.
I haven’t seen a solution for this issue anywhere online, people have suggested it’s due to software updates or device updates but that doesn’t make a lot of sense for the issue I’m having.
Hey @meganpippus,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
If you've excluded a compromised account as a reason for the removed songs as per this guide , the reason for this behavior should be that tracks are being reuploaded by the distributing label and thus the old versions are removed from the Liked Songs collection.
If you can't find the songs on Spotify at all, this could mean that they've been made unavailable due to licensing reasons.
Hope this clears things a bit,
Cheers!
This happened to me three times in the last few months. Just like yourself I thought it was just me somehow fat finger the unlike button on my favorite songs. But then no I found the exactly same song and re added it.
Even more frustrating is it doest tell me there is no history of songs removed. It feels a lot less like the answer given by the moderator is the answer and feels more like a bug since I have easily found the same song with same number of plays.
Hey there!
This has most likely happened due to licensing issues, where songs have been made unavailable. Often they do get re-uploaded shortly after but with a new ID, so they might not show up in your playlists but remain greyed out instead (in case show unavailable content is toggled on in the settings).
It may also be a good idea to remove the cached data of the app but do note that this will also temporarily remove your offline content. It will re-download upon re-opening the app.
If you believe this is being caused by something else - check out the previous reply from @Dian for tips in regards to securing your account.
Keep us posted 🙌🏼
Recently I noticed that many of my recently liked songs were removed. Basically, my “liked songs”playlist went back to last July, and all the songs I liked since then were somehow unliked. I’d really like to know how to restore the songs I previously liked and fix my account.
Hey there @Jordyn30,
Thanks for posting in this thread!
Just to check, have you followed the steps mentioned @Dian earlier in the thread? Make sure to have a look at the points mentioned on the page linked in that reply.
Should the tracks not appear to be removed due to content licensing related questions, we recommend following the steps under Lost anything? (on the same page). This way, you'll get in touch with our Customer Support team who can have a closer look at things backstage.
Hope this helps! We're just a post away if you need anything else.
