Liked songs only play on phone

Liked songs only play on phone

My liked songs playlist will only play on my phone and when I try to connect the phone to my tv or other device it won't connect so that I can listen to my liked songs on another device. I have an S23 Ultra running Android 13. If I try to play it on my PC or laptop, it plays it on my phone. I cannot get the playlist to play at all on my LG TV or my Alexa show. Does anyone have any ideas why or how to fix this?

Hey @I_am_Gr00t ,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

How are the devices you're not able to connect to connected to the internet? Could you try resetting the router? Also try hooking up the devices through a different connection, e.g. a hot spot from your phone. Did that work?

Just to be sure, you want to use Connect to play songs from the phone on the TV/Alexa right?

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Both devices are connected via wi-fi. The router has been reset with no effect. The issue is playing my Liked Songs Playlist. Other playlists play with no problem.I have tried to start the Playlist on my phone and then connect to the other devices and that does not work either.

Hi @I_am_Gr00t,

Thanks for the post.

This is very strange. The only thing that comes to my mind that could be causing this issue is a very large library. If you have 10,000 + items in your Spotify library and the Liked Songs in particular, this can cause the playlist to lag or not play on some devices. The Spotify app tries to load content and synchronize in real time, and if you have a very large playlist it won't always work on some devices like older phones, TVs or consoles.

If that's the case I'd recommend splitting up your Liked Songs in a few smaller playlists, preferably with no more than 1000 songs each. I know this sounds like a hassle, but it's easily done on the Desktop app where you can batch select multiple tracks.

Hope this helps.

That may be the problem. My Playlist is definitely over 10k songs. I don't think the device age is an issue, nothing is more than about 4 years old. Guess I'll have to try and break the list up. Thanks for the advice.
