Liked songs playlist isn't updating across different platforms

Liked songs playlist isn't updating across different platforms

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an issue I've been having with my "Liked Songs" playlist on Spotify. It seems that the playlist isn't updating consistently across different platforms, including the Windows 11 app, the iOS app, and the web version.

Here are the current discrepancies in the number of songs displayed on each platform:

Windows 11: 468 songs
iOS: 352 songs
Web: 480 songs

As you can see, the number of songs varies quite a bit, and there are several missing tracks depending on which device I use.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, do you have any tips on how to resolve it? It’s pretty frustrating to have such an inconsistent experience across devices.

Same here. I noticed my top 5 songs I recently added on my phone were not showing up on my PC (Windows 11 app). Adding them to my library from PC changed the order on my phone and added them to my PC app Liked songs.
PC: 2,100 songs
iPhone: 2,094 songs
Web: 2,093 songs

Attached screenshots as proof. I know I'm not helping per se, but I'm not sure how to resolve this issue because what songs are missing?

Hi there @Arthur_trsn, @tdr1995,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll gladly help you sort this sync issue.

This is quite odd and we haven't seen any reports about this exact issue recently. Usually, the web player should have the accurate number, since it has direct communication with the servers, so most likely that number you see is the correct one. To force a sync across devices, please try the following:

  1. Perform a full clean reinstall across all affected devices
  2. Disable any VPNs you might be using
  3. Log out and back in on the browser. Clear the browser cookies as well (at least the ones related to Spotify)

This should force a sync across all devices and get the same number across all of them.

Let us know how it goes.

Bump - Needing assistance with syncing issues for cross-platform syncing (only an issue with LIKED SONGS).

Currently running Macbook pro from November 2024, ios 15.3.

iPhone is iphone 13 pro max running ios 18.3.

I have logged out more than 2 times on both devices.
I have cleared the cache on spotify on both devices twice.

Both devices are able to create a new playlist with no syncing issues on the other device.

I have played songs from one device to another by selected the output device when they are both in close range.

I have gone into offline mode on both devices, closed the apps, reopened the apps, turn offline mode off on both devices, waited for sync to start, no sync observed, restarted my apps, relaunched apps and still no sync.

I'm just trying to sync my liked songs from my phone (has more recent liked songs) to my mac. It shouldnt be so hard.

I'm also having this issue, it's obviously not something they care about fixing.

I have the same issue now as well. It just happened for the first time. Cannot sync on desktop.

I've seen posts with the same issue back in 2018 and before. This post is from 2022 and doesn't seem to have any resolution for the user. I've reinstalled and was fine and then Spotify took itself off my desktop and had to open from Windows and required a new log in which then has my last song added from 29JUL2024. I got it to work a week before this. I don't connect to any other network, its home wifi or data.

Please tell me over the last 6 years there's been an easy fix?

Hey @Omniman_Fan@kic1 & @Thaddeusii,

Thanks for letting us know that this is still an issue on your ends!

After making sure that you're not using any VPN services, on the affected devices, could you try logging out of the app and back in twice in a row? This triggers a manual sync of all your settings and data and should potentially fix the issue (depending on its source, of course).
We'd also like to know if any of you are using a work-related/ company-licensed device or if all of your devices are for personal use only.

Should the issue persist afterwards, share with us the following details for the affected devices - what the device is, its current OS version and your Spotify app version, as well as if your app has been downloaded from the Microsoft app store or our website (Windows users only).

Many thanks! We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

I've added quite a few songs to my "Liked" playlist on Desktop App. A few days later these songs are still not synced to my iOS App. I've tried all the suggested remedies: updated all the apps the the latest version, logged out/logged in, cleared cache. Not sure what else can be done to resolve it.

My liked songs are a month out of date on the Windows app. I have tried reinstalling and other fixes on the internet, and none worked.

Same issue here, started for me probably within the past few days

Just like one song on the device which is correctly displaying the number of songs then it resolves itself (my case was slightly different as it would not load on the device I had not opened for a long time)

I'm having similar issues as well. It is also weird, because it seems to sometimes even be selective between artists. Such as, if I like a song by one artist, it will populate the liked playlist across all devices, but if I like a song from a different artist, it refuses to sync properly.

My Question or Issue

songs on my phones library are not showing up on my pc

Albums showing as added on the Android app are not showing as added on the desktop app (Win10).

I don't know which of these is correct (most up-to-date) so I don't know which app is failing to sync.

So I searched this site and followed the instructions to re-install both apps, and also deleted the Spotify cache data on Android.

None of the above has helped. Anything else I can try to get everything to sync please?

I'm having the same issue across all my devices. I've tried offline mode and everything, but all my different devices are missing different amount of liked songs. Adding songs to my playlist reflects instantly across all devices, but liked songs refuses to update.

Hey folks,

Apologies for the radio silence.

Are you able to transfer the playback between your devices using Spotify Connect? If yes, try liking a track, playing it from one device and then choosing from the device picker the device where it doesn't sync.

Let us know how it goes.

Hello, this does not help, it gives you an error on the output device (launched the app on my phone and tried to play the song which didn't synchronize on the Mac).

Hey there folks,

As it's been a while, could you let us know in case this is still happening for you as we've only gotten one recent report?

If this is happening, we'd like to look into it further and it'd also be very helpful in case you could share what troubleshooting you've tried so far as suggested previously in this and this comment from us.

Thanks and we'll be on the lookout.

Hi all,

I fixed it for me, not sure how but I did a few steps.
1. Uninstalled app on desktop and reloaded it on mobile.
2. Turned offline mode (located in playback) on and off on my mobile device
3. Made sure all my songs were synced / downloaded on spotify (My wifi connection was disabled and hence it was not downloading the songs)

Hope this helps!
