My Question or Issue
Starting today, I noticed that my Likes were out of order, specifically a huge chunk of very old likes were shown in the last couple of months. I tried re-sorting the list, but they still showed up when I put it back to sort by recent. I tried re-installing the app, but this didn't resolve it. I verified that it's the same on web, mobile and desktop apps.
I frequently find things in my liked lists by what month I added them, so this is a little inconvenient, and I wondered if it was a known issue.
thanks!
Hi there @jaeysin,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!
This could be happening due to a number of factors. Please check the following:
Hope this helps.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your response. I've verified that enhance isn't on. I don't actually have the option to turn this on for this playlist. Shuffle is not on, and it shouldn't affect the playlist itself. I can see this on both desktop and mobile devices, so it seems like it's changed in both places. It's not the end of the world to be sure, I just wondered if this had happened for anyone else.
Hey @jaeysin,
Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.
In this case, would you mind sending us a video recording of the behavior you kindly described? It'll help us visualize better what's happening on your side. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.
On another note, we'd suggest you check the sorting you've set. Keep in mind that you can reverse the order from oldest to newest by clicking on Date added, or by hitting that sorting option in the drop-down menu. If you see an arrow ↑, then the order is set to oldest to newest. It looks like this:
Lastly, we'd like to check: is this happening within all your playlists, or does it happen just in the Liked Songs one?
Keep us in the loop!
Hi AlejaR,
Thanks for your response!
There's not much i can show in a video.. essentially a huge chunk of my old likes are showing up as being added in March of this year. It's hard for me to demonstrate this, but I'm certain of it. A significant block of them just showed up out of order.
I've verified the list is being sorted as recently added. I can see other more recently likes that are correct, and stuff from a few months ago looks correct.
My version of Spotify doesn't seem to have the option to reverse the order, as you'll see in the screen shot.
I also do not see this happening on other playlists.
Screenshots show the chunk of songs that i liked a couple of years ago showing up in the March 2023 timeframe.
Thanks for your help,
Jason
Hey @jaeysin,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info sent.
In this case, since this issue could be related to some damaged cache stored on your device that might affect the proper behavior of the app, and to make sure you're on the latest update, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article to see if it makes any difference.
Also, if the issue persists, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if the songs keep showing in the same order? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.
