Local file album art disappears when connecting to another device

Local file album art disappears when connecting to another device

Plan

Premium

Device

iPhone XR, MacBook Pro Mid 2012

Operating System

iOS 16.4.1, macOS 11.7.4

My Question or Issue

For example, when playing a local file on the Mac desktop client (freshly started), the album art will show up on the lower left hand corner with no issues. However, when I connect to my iPhone to play the same song, the album art on my Mac will disappear but will appear on the iPhone. Then if I switch back to my Mac, the album art will be blank on BOTH devices. The album art thumbnails are STILL VISIBLE in the playlist but do not show on the bottom left corner.

Hi @kronb0b,

We'd like to look further into this. Could you share the following info:

  • The version of Spotify you're running on both devices.
  • Some screenshots which capture how things look on your end.

Could you also confirm if the files are in .mp3 format? If they aren't, try converting them to .mp3s to see if that does the trick.

Keep us posted. Cheers!
