New Playlists

New Playlists

Would someone be so kind as to clarify something regarding the new update. When I create a new playlist it’s automatically set to public. I then change it to private immediately. I’ve noticed with the new update that even though the playlist is now private it shows up on my public playlists on my user profile? Does this mean that people can still view and play it even though it’s private? I’m so confused!

Hi @Carly14,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Can you let me know the make and model of your device?

I look forward to your reply, and have a good day!

Hi,

I have an iPhone 11 Pro.

Thanks

Hi @Carly14,

Thank you for your reply!

As is described in this support article, playlists you create are public by default. However, you can switch this anytime on the desktop app, which will apply the changes to all devices:

  1. Select Settings by clicking this icon in the top-right:  TreyAnastasio_0-1620639441534.png
  2. Under Social, switch off/on Automatically make new playlists public.

Can you check in Settings that the option for new playlists to be set to public is off (grey instead of green)?

Also, do you have a separate playlist option on your mobile app to hide or show playlists from your profile? This might be a separate option from making a playlist private or public.

I look forward to your reply, and have a good day!
