One year later, and yes: This UI is complete trash. Prime example of fixing what isn't broken.

One year later, and yes: This UI is complete trash. Prime example of fixing what isn't broken.

I don't know who or where this UI overhaul came from last year. I thought maybe I'd get used to it and become happy with it. The complete opposite is true. I save an album, and somehow this isn't added to my liked songs BY DESIGN? What the ever-loving **bleep**? In no frame of mind is this a good idea. Oh yeah also, thought maybe those songs I saved over the course of the last 6 years would slowly appear in my 'liked songs' (I guess I don't like the songs that I SAVED?) No worries, I'll just painstakingly go through every single album I've saved and individually put a CUTE LITTLE HEART next to several thousand songs.

Spotify, I seriously just don't know what to say. I really really wish I hadn't been using this platform for so long, because DAMN I would love to leave for your competitor, but after years of use, there is too much work to rebuild my (now disheveled) library. It is utterly baffling that this enormous masturbatory UI overhaul made it through multiple levels of management and approvals. This is a shining example of changing a functioning system, just for the sake of changing it to look more cute. A sleek upgrade would have been fine, but completely throwing a wrench in people's ability to have a sensible and usable library is just infuriating. I realize its too late to change back now, but just know that basically the entire community of spotify who actually used it to curate a LIBRARY of songs have been royally **bleep**ed over.

But hey, at least there are cute hearts now right? **bleep**.

Hey there @Billydude,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

We understand how the new UI is a big transition and might cause some frustration. It seems that other Spotify users also mentioned they'd like to see in this feature removed and posted an idea. You can add your support there by up-voting the idea. We'll inform on any developments there, if there are any.

The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.

Have a nice day!

Any idea if Spotify is actually giving any consideration into all the complaints about their "new" library system? As you said, it's been almost one year since they:

  • completely removed the "Songs" section of the library, replacing it with this "Liked songs" feature that forces us to click the 3 dots and click "liked", which takes sooooo much time
  • made the "Albums" section a mess where liking songs does not make albums appear there; you now have to like the album itself as well (otherwise it just shows in "recommended" down the list)
    • and if you do like an album, the whole album will appear there, not only the songs you liked from it!! So it's impossible to scroll through albums and listen only to the songs you saved from a certain album.
  • made the "Artists" section an even bigger mess, where we now have to "Follow" individual artist for them to appear there, even if we saved some of their songs to our library in the first place?

So basically, now there's no connection between the Liked songs, Artists and Albums sections, we have to create them all individually. There's no way to just save a song to our library and then scroll through our library by artist or by album.

Seriously, they should just bring everything back as it was before and forget this mess they made which is about to make me leave Spotify for Apple Music instead.
Please just:

  • delete the whole "Liked songs" system ; we can create playlists on our own if we want to
  • let us click a "Save" button on any song or album, and make the songs thus appear in "Songs", "Artists" and "Albums" all at once, just like Apple Music does, without having to like both the songs, the album and the artist individually to have them appear in our library.

I haven't seen a single person satisfied with this new system; why not just go back to the old one?

Seriously hoping they will finally listen to all of our complaints.

Hey @Nathan96,

We understand where you're coming from and will make sure all your feedback reaches the right teams.

Make sure to add your for this idea, which requests that artists whose songs are saved, automatically get followed. We monitor the Idea Exchange constantly to keep up with the whishes and feedback of our users.

Note also that there is also another way to add songs and albums to your library, besides using the three dots menu. You can click the heart button next to the song or album in the album view and they'll be automatically liked. You can also sort your Liked Songs playlist by albums so that only the saved songs from an album appear.  You can learn how to to this here

You can also head over to this page to find out more tips and tricks on how to use the new library as efficiently as possible.

Hope this is helpful but don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions!
