Playlist song list

Playlist song list

As of a recent update, many users with a free ad based subscription on spotify mobile noticed the "and more..." feature on mobile devices is now gone. Many claim and suggest that this is a way for spotify to get more free users to switch to spotify premium. One major issue with the recent update is the ability to pull up the song list of a selected playlist and select which song to remove from a playlist. Recently, I was updating my playlists with new songs and miss-clicked and ended up adding a wrong song to the wrong playlist,

"no worries I'll just remove it from the playlist..."

Little did I know the "and more..." feature was removed, at first like most I thought it was a bug of somesort or that my phone wasn't working properly so I took to google, and come to find out the feature was removed (only for free users). Like everyone else, I was also a bit frustrated with the fact that I couldn't get any "previews/snippets" of a song anymore, but no one talked about editing playlists..

I can understand why spotify would remove this feature, as its a part of the "tiers" included for those who pay for spotify premium to pull up the playlist and "Pick and Play" but, a short 10-15 second audio excerpt isn't really "picking and playing."

Regardless, my main issue with the recent update is the ability to pull up the song list, and NOT the "preview" feature.

So Spotify, as a OG mobile free user fromm wayyyyy back who knows when (no exclusivity from ads, you could "pick and play" decide whether or not to shuffle songs in and album or playlist etc.) I propose an idea, or better yet a solution..

The "and more.." feature to be re-added but with minor tweaks and fixes to ensure that premium users are still getting "their moneys worth" (with tiers and such).

What do I suggest? Well first, remove the "preview" feature from mobile free spotify users, still bring back the "and more..." feature just remove the "pick and play" ability for non-premium users (free mobile users).

Why bring back the "and more..." feature well for starters how are we supposed to edit our playlists, for example when I wanted to remove a song from a playlist but couldn't b/c I wasn't able to pull up the song list, so remove the "pick and play" feature but please add in a song list for the free users to be able to manage and create their playlists as they like, or just dont add it and make all the free users miserable and have to make new playlists for every "miss-click" Or have to go through the hassle of never hearing that song again or creating and transferring all songs from the previous selected playlist (maybe 500 or so, it varies from person to person) except for the one that was added by accident just to listen to ads for 70 percent of the time and have it on shuffle that doesn't continue when you bypass the ad so you have to listen to the same songs over and over again and not be able to enjoy the full playlist, etc the list goes on and on. "complaining? ah yes but thats all fixed when you switch to spotify premium, click here right now to.."

sadly I am almost sixteen still im school and cant pay for a monthly subscription to be able to freely listen to music, if i could i would, honestly spotify ive used this app for years now, there was a short brief pause here and there multiple accounts etc but as of right now ive been listening to music on apple itunes bc my phone broke couldnt be fixed and the refurbished phone recognized my airpods pro as "new" and i got 6 months free but i lost track how long ago that was and im starting to update my playlists here on spotify so that when those 6 months are up..(pretty sure its going to be very soon here now) blah blah balh blah soooo

TOO SUMMMM IT ALL UP

Just add a song list for free mobile users to be able to freely remove and see what songs are on the playlist, WITHOUT A PREVIEW FEATURE. Normally you'd click "and more..." and be able to remove songs, hide songs, like songs, and the main one "preview" but with the removal of the "and more..." feature or (song list) no longer allows free users to remove songs from a playlist, you might say oh all you have to do is search said song up and select "hide" and youll never listen to it again but maybe its a song that you listen to its just not on the right playlist. Even more to add, would be, say you are a content creator of some sort and people like your music taste and listen to your created playlists and you miss-clicked and added the wrong song or non explicit version to a playlist and now you can't remove it on mobile.

The only way as of right now to remove songs from your playlist is to load up the web player and do it from there..

slight problem I dont own a laptop other than my school chromebook which I use for school work and also spotify is blocked on school chromebooks..

A workaround would be opening safari and requesting the desktop view for spotify web player, for my folks who don't have access to a laptop or safari you can download chrome app on your mobile device and select the three dots and request desktop view from there.

So yea, thats pretty much it.

Dear spotify,

please please please

add a song list for playlists, that doesn't have a preview feature so that we can remove and edit our playlists to our liking and you can still offer "premium exclusives/tiers" and the maybe small percentage of free users, idk the statistics of premium subscriptions and such but id assume for millions of users most have switched to premium especially as of now but anywho thats it.

Hey @Fllixzyy,

Thanks for your detailed Idea submission.

We've moved your post to the Help Boards where it will get more light.

Spotify is aware of this issue and are currently looking into it. You can check out this Ongoing Issue thread for more info. Please leave your +Vote and subscribe to the thread in order to stay updated ๐Ÿ™‚

As a workaround, you can make changes to your playlists from the Desktop app or Web Player. They'll be reflected on the phone ๐Ÿ™‚

If you do think that this should be considered as an Idea, you're welcome to resubmit it. It's best to be very concise on what exactly you'd like to see as a change in the app and how that would improve the user experience.

Hope you find this info helpful.
