My Question or Issue

For the past 6+ months, I've noticed a number of issues that just keep getting worse.

I have cleared caches, force stopped, and completely reinstalled spotify on my phone numerous times and it hasn't helped.

The issue is threefold:

1) When I try to access information about a podcast episode by clicking on it, I get an error message. When I try to click on a notification from spotify about a new podcast episode, I get the same error message. It says "Something went wrong. Have another go?". But clicking on the "try again" butten never works.

2) Songs stop playing randomly. It's not an internet issue as it happens when I'm connected to wifi or data, including with downloaded songs. Admittedly, it happens less frequently with the downloaded songs and sometimes I can force those songs to play. Most frequently I have to force stop the app and re-launch it to be able to play music again.

3) I haven't been able to add songs to my "liked" list. I click the heart / like button and it doesn't add the song. I can, however, add songs to playlists I've created, just not my "liked" list.

Wondering if anyone has had experiences with these three issues and if they've found solutions / workarounds? It's becoming so frustrating that I'm debating other platforms.

Thank you!

This is what the error message looks like when trying to access any podcast information

Hey there @hovster

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

You mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?

If this doesn't do the trick, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your phone to see if they can replicate this behavior with their account?

Lastly, could you check if the OS of your phone has any pending updates?

We'll be on the lookout.

Hello!

Thanks for offering these solutions -- the clean reinstall didn't help, my OS is up to date, and I haven't had the chance to get someone else to log in on my phone but the issues aren't changing.

I've also now been unable to add podcast episodes to my list.

Are there any other solutions I can try?

Thank you!

Hey there @hovster,

Thanks for your reply and for the info shared.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the exact Spotify version you're running there?

On another note, just to confirm, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

It'd be really helpful if you could ask a relative or a friend for their device to open your account here and check if you can replicate this behavior. This will help us to isolate this issue. Meanwhile, we'd suggest you install Spotify Lite to check if you notice any difference about this issue on your device. Spotify Lite is a simplified version of the Spotify app that uses less storage, data, and battery. You can read more about it here.

Keep us in the loop!

I am experiencing issue #1 above, except when I click on "About this episode" within a podcast it closes the app (I went thru the error message phase as well, then it just started closing). This is very frustrating to us geeks who review episodes of podcasts & "old time radio" stories.

Hi there @Cindycaldwell,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

Don't worry, this is being looked into by our tech team at the moment. Make sure to keep your app updated so that you don't miss out on a future fix.

Take care.
