My Question or Issue

Trying to work out if I can convert from local media investment to Spotify.  Many songs are not hosted as Internet service and I have encoded local.  Many are encoded at audiophil quality and so I wish to just play

But I think once I introducted files local in mix.. it has confused Spotify app in other areas.

Ex:  Song mix.. ONLY from spotify resources..   playing list items....  tried to move priority I want them to play in.

Hey @penguinpages,

Thanks for reaching out to us in the Community!

It seems that you're trying to play some of your local files, but it's possible that the format isn't supported by Spotify. Here's a list of the supported formats:

  1. .mp3
  2. .mp4
  3. .m4a

When it comes to adding songs to the queue, they are added at the top, meaning that the songs you just added to the queue will play right after the current song. You can, of course, drag individual tracks and place them wherever you want.

We hope this info was useful. Let us know if there's anything else we can help out with.

Cheers!

What I am really asking.. is help from Spotify on debug.

Posting here with just symptom of issue is not likely to reflect someone having same issue and posting there work around.

Ex:  powershell  -> launch spotify client --debug  or  --loglevel 3

What I need is means to get better logs and events such that I can root cause.  Then post this for support to review, define, or accept and add to update stream on next update.

This example was just as noted.  I launched Spotfy client, connected to my Yamaha reciever "spotify" input and selected from my Spotify list a few songs... attempted to drag around to reoder and got error. Close and re-open client did not change.. error again.

My guess is that previous listening was from local file. And I think that is in the root cause of this... it streamed local file to the reciever and some interaction of local and then streaming content runs into these kinds of issues.

As for format:  100% of media is mp3.  But some music files have different encoding values based on "quality" of the music when I pulled it from CD or other media source.

Hey @penguinpages,

Thanks for the reply.

If you're trying to play local files over Spotify Connect on your Yamaha Receiver, that won't work.

Spotify can play local files only on Desktop and Mobile, as it converts them to Spotify cache. Devices such as smart speakers and sound systems don't have the option for local files to be downloaded locally on them and in turn - won't play. Local files will just get skipped and you'll get similar errors.

You should still be able to play local files over Bluetooth on your receiver.

Hope this clears things up.
