Removing/deleting folders

Removing/deleting folders

Recently, on my desktop app, I was able to create folders for my playlists! which was great at the time, for I could neat them, giving me a less cramped look when i opened the app. Now, though, I wish to get rid of them, but I just can't seem to, without deleting all the playlists those folders contain. Is there any way I could do this without losing anything important?

Hey @larasamaral,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

In order to delete the folders without losing your playlists, you'd need to expand the folder from the white arrow and drag the playlists outside of the folder. Once you've finished this process and the playlists that you wanna keep are out of the folder - it's completely safe to delete it.

Please note that you'd need to use either the desktop app or the Spotify Web Player to do that 🙂

Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any other questions.

I also like using the folders, but the issue I'm having is that I'm not able to change the title. The text box only allows me to type one letter, not full words.

I've done this in the past without a problem, so it seems like something is happening with the code? Like it was broken in an update. Is this anything you could help me with?

Hey there @mackenzielizabeth,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

It looks like the issue you're describing is slightly different from the OP's. In this case, we suggest that you submit your post on the relevant board to avoid any mix-ups. Also, make sure to include any troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. We'll take a closer look.

Cheers 🙂

Is there a way to do to it on your app, because whenever I press the Spotify Web Player it returns to the app itself. And the Spotify Web Player doesn’t do that anymore.

Hey @d0v3S,

If this is in regard to the option to rename folders, it's accessible from both the Web Player and the desktop app. Just right-click on any folder and select 'Rename'. If there's been a malfunction with this feature on Web, it seems to be fixed now 🙂

When it comes to removing/ deleting a folder, you can right-click on any folder to achieve the desired result as well. Tested this on both the Web Player and the desktop app and it works well on our end:

And as for the Web Player redirecting you, there's a pop-up browser setting for automatic redirects that you may have selected at one point in time. In order to avoid this, you can try resetting this behaviour by removing your browser's cache & cookies. If this doesn't do the trick you can either reinstall your browser or set up a different one as the default browser choice.

If there's any function that has worked previously on the Web Player but has stopped doing so now, could you tell us which one it is?
We'd gladly take a further look into this for you 🙂 Much appreciated!
