Any way we can reset Discover Weekly seeds?
Or maybe update your algorithm for suggestions?
Every week my Discover Weekly is filled with synthpop or sounds of fax machine having an orgasm labeled as dubstep. Or some incredibly repetitive annoying prog rock.
The artists sound all the same and suggestions never improve.
I've been listening to Spotify since 2012 and listen to a very wide variety of music Spotifly's Discovery Weekly only suggests garbage.
It's like it thinks that every week I want to get a fresh dose of Blade Runner wannabe soundtrack made by a fetus with a keyboard, or someone noodling on a guitar string.
Discovery Weekly is a great idea but it needs to be improved, please at least add some sort of a way to change suggestion seeds for more variety.
Hey there @user-removed,
Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting here 🙂
Your 'Discover Weekly' should consist of recommendations chosen just for you, based on your listening activity and saved songs from 'Your Library' and playlists.
The more songs saved in Your Library and playlists, the more personal recommendations you'll get in your 'Made For You' section. You can also tell us what you like and what you don’t like. Head here to find out how.
While there's currently no way to manually reset your listening history and recommendations, we'd suggest you add your +VOTE to this idea, if this is something you'd like to see implemented in the future.
You can read more about how the Idea Exchange works here.
Hope you'll find this useful. Give us a shout if you have any other questions!

My Question or Issue
Hello,
The Discover Weekly playlist is a big part of why I love Spotify. It has suggested many great artists and songs over the years. Unfortunately over the past 4-5 weeks it has shifted heavily towards piano music. I acknowledge the fact that I listen to a lot of instrumental music while working - piano in particular - however, my Liked Songs playlist is probably 95% other genres (rock, blues, indie, jazz, etc.).
I tried to exclude the Discover Weekly from my taste profile, but that is not a solution. Now I just "remove" each song from Discover Weekly in the hope that the algorithm will catch that and start to suggest a variety of genres. I am at the point where I get 30 piano/lullaby pieces on Monday morning, which is definitely not a great way to start the week. Also, the pieces are in the 1:30-2:30min range, which creates a disjointed listening experience.
Any suggestions are welcome. Meanwhile, my fallback is the {Song name} Radios.
Similar problem here: on the plus side, Spotify seems to have realized, finally, that I listen to classical music. On the down side, for at least two weeks now, my Discover Weekly has been nothing but. And it‘s such a weird mix, too, including one highly dubious album „Wilhelm Furtwängler - Der Welt‘s Bekanntesten und Bedeutendsten Dirigent“ (must be somebody‘s idea of German?) where the selection ("Violin Concerto" - highly specific, eh?) does in no way match what is actually playing (sounds like Eugene Onegin).
In short: my most enjoyable weekly mixes have had *variety* - don‘t give me all-jazz or all-classical (and especially stuff from dubious sources). And go easy on the Naxos discs, too - more than a third of the selections are from that label!
I have been having issues with my discover weekly not updating to music I listen to on a regular basis. It all started when I used spotify through sonos to play white noise music one night. It has been over 2 months and I'm constantly getting white noise / frequency songs! Super annoying since I always exclude those music from the playlist and have spent hours searching and adding/liking new songs of other genres that I listen to but my discover weekly is still broken.
Whats more of a pain is I had the discover weekly dialed right in with solid playlists week after week!
Any help to "reset" or correct this issue would be greatly appreciated as discover weekly is (was) my favourite playlist
I have the same or a similar issue. I have used my Spotify account to play lullabys to my daughter every once in a while. I was always impressed that the ganre never made my Discovery Weekly playlists... until it did. I then created a new account in my family plan and for the last months I have only used this new account for lullabys. I listen to a lot of music on Spotify, however, the Discovery Weekly playlist has remained to be 100% lullabys for the last 2 months even though I haven't listened to a single lullaby using the account in that time. This is really annoying. I was really happy with the Discovery Weekly playlists previously - I discovered a lot of good music with it. I'm sad this is no longer possible.
we need something like this, like others on this thread I used spotify to play white noise for my son to sleep and now for weeks my discover weekly has been nothing but white noise, rain sounds and meditation, despite listeneing to a LOT of other music . I've tried excluding stuff from my taste profile, skipping through songs, hiding track etc but my discover weekly now seems permanantly and irreparably broken. A reset function where perhaps it asked you why you were resetting, what genres or artists you'd like to see less of would be really helpful
Just adding my experience to the mix. I am a long-time user, and was very happy with how the algorithm worked for a long time. For nearly a year now, I get a majority sub 1:30 minute tracks, with maybe 4-5 tracks beyond 3 minutes worth checking out. I hate short songs! I listen to a wide variety of tracks daily, and can't understand why it thinks I like this stuff. It's broken and I am stuck in some sort of loop. Please let be refresh it. Discover Weekly used to be a really great start to the week.
Another week and another horrible discover weekly playlist. 90% of it is Electric Swing. I can only think of two Electric Swing songs that I've ever listen to. It should make up a tiny portion of the music that I listen to on a daily basis. Why does this keep happening? Discover weekly is why I pay for a membership. It's horrible now and if it doesn't improve I'll go elsewhere.
Funny, I thought it was just me who, for a couple of months now, is having problems with the Discover Weekly playlist . Discover Weekly was a really great for source for me for a couple of years, allowing me to discover new songs and even bands from time to time. However, it all started about a year ago when one week my Discover Weekly suddenly consisted of 30 random Indian songs, even though I never listen to Indian music. I called the Spotify support hotline and they were even able to reset my Discover Weekly cache. But it has never been the same since. I hardly listen to it anymore as it is mostly genres I never listen to anyway. This week it is once again full of South American and Indian artists that I never listened to in the first place... But reading through this thread, it seems that it is not just me, but something seems to be broken with Discover Weekly in general.
Hi everyone,
I'm not going to create a new topic but I'm having similar issues with Discover Weekly. It used to be awesome back in the days. Since the advent of AI generated music/images, it's clear now that Spotify has a problem with fake content. I'm very aware of how to recognize this junk and NEVER listen to it. However, this week Discover Weekly got to the low point of 19 tracks out of 30 being junk. Discover Weekly is unfortunately not built to resist the generative garbage that nobody wants to engage with. We want to connect with music, artists and creation, not fill the pockets of scammers. You could easily improve the code for that feature by adding safeguards like "does the artist have a profile picture ?" or "does the artist have a bio ?" or "does the artist have a genuine following ?" or "does the artist have a trusted and verified label (doesn't have to be a big one)". Actually, the issue is that, for now the fake artists use the same patterns but they could improve the scam if the rules change... So I don't know i that could be solved.
Fully agree and same **bleep** music keeps filling the discover weekly list week after week, no matter what you do. Who is paying for us to get fed with this horrible sleepy Indian spiritual music... Not at all what premium membership should be like!
I'm having this same issue. I listened to white noise to sleep one night 3 months ago, and since then my discover weekly has been full of nothing but 532hz healing crystal mystic melodies! Since it seems like there is nothing to do about it on my account, I have found a solution: cancel service after 13 years of premium and start an account with the fruit company (A P P L E MUSIC). byyyeee!
It's been a few years since I originally posted this topic. Tried those built-in solutions where you exclude playlists from taste profile. Some of that helped.
Switched to Apple Music altogether. Seems like its discovery works about the same, so you get random stuff but in excellent quality. Lossless is sooo much better, I hear subtleties in favorite songs that I've never heard before. With that said, when it comes to discovery nothing beats Pandora.
Same issue here. Just make a reset option Spotify!
Same, my discover weekly has been sucking for months.
I used to be excited to discover what it contained.... not anymore.
Now, it's mostly genres I don't listen to (brutal grindcore, dungeon synth) and AI generated trash (I can recognize them by sound). It's so sad!
And it happened again... I never listened to any Arabic artists or anything like that, nor did I save them anywhere. I mean, seriously, Spotify, what the **bleep**? It seems to me that you have a serious problem with your Discover Week algorithm (or whatever it is that feeds it).
