My Question or Issue

Is there a way within Spotify to save an auto-sort (e.g. sort by Title, Artist, Album, Length) as the Custom Order?

I sort all of my playlists by Title, on my iPhone and personal PC app. However, when I’m at work or on someone else’s phone or computer and play through browser, my playlists revert to their “Custom Order” which is the order in which the songs were added. I do not want this, neither for my own playing nor for the order that other people see when I share my playlists. I find it extremely frustrating that the sort resets at all, but it is even more frustrating because you cannot sort period with the browser version of Spotify (so there’s zero way for me to fix the playlist order).

If I cannot do this natively, is there any way to export the playlist sort (so that I may sort it outside of Spotify) and then export the playlist sort, as the “Custom order”?

Thank you.

Thank you for your response.

I effectively found a solution for what I wanted with “Sort Your Music”. It uses the Spotify API and lets you sort by a variety of things, including all of the internally built auto-sorts. Then can either save the reordered playlist as a new one or overwrite the old one. I’ve used it on my playlists now and am super happy with the results.

Hey @FilteredRiddle,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

It's currently not possible to save a custom order preset for your playlist sorting. This will be remembered on the same device for a certain period of time. If you log in another device or that time period passes, your sorting will be reset.

Hope this clears things up. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

That's really nice, but I wish Spotify could have some built in feature for simply reversing the order of your playlist (not by date added, but the custom order). I think like old Mp3 players like Winamp or even Itunes back in the day had more editing features!
