Search + download status issues when smart shuffle enabled

Hello,

 

I noticed that when I have smart shuffle enabled, there is no search bar in the “Liked Songs” playlist. Also, none of the songs have a download status displayed (I download my Liked Songs so they should all appear downloaded). When i swap to the regular shuffle or no shuffle, the search and download status appear as expected. 

Additionally, the “Search Your Library” feature (accessed from “Your Library” -> Search Icon) does not seem to work at all, regardless of the shuffle setting.

 

The ability to search my saved songs and library is my primary use case of Spotify. I cannot use the new smart shuffle feature while these issues persist.

 

An additional point of feedback regarding smart shuffle: there should be some way to exclude genres / artists / songs from it. I have had rain sound playlists play overnight, and most of the recommendations I get are rain sounds. This is not what I want from the smart shuffle. I’ve tried pressing the “-“ button on these recommendations, but they are still presented. Some sort of configuration regarding what to exclude or include would be useful.

Thanks for the post.

 

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling. Corrupted app files could be causing issues with the search bar.

 

Regarding the recommendations and disabling ones with rain sounds - you can remove certain content from your taste profile, so you don't get recommended songs like that. Check out this support article to see how to do that.

Thanks Alex. I excluded the sleep playlists from my taste profile. Hopefully that helps. I'll try a re-install for the search issue
