My Question or Issue

Tag Search such as: artist, track, album, genre, year are not working properly again.

People should check this features before releasing a new version.

I know it is not a common used feature for popular users, but anyway, it is not usable most of the time.

a search like

artist:wedding +track:million +year:2021

should return 1 result, but now it is returning thousands of misplaced results. like the word wedding for track name

term:

+genre:shoegaze +genre:brasileiro +year:2022

was returning correctly 96 tracks (About a month ago), but now is also with random results.

To be notice, It all got worse after lyric search was introduc

Hey @wineamyhouse,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

I was able to use the provided search query and find exactly one song on my Windows 10 PC. It works decent on my Android phone aswell, but couldn't test it on an iPhone yet.

It would be best to try a clean reinstall on your devices like described here and if the issue persists prepare a short screen recording of the search experience together with the Spotify version installed on your devices.

Does the described issue occur with a different account on the same devices, but connected to a different network? Also if you're using a VPN, turn it off.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hi, thanks for the answer

the search terms work partially, they are never bringing the exact criteria,

but they are also returning approximations or ignoring parts of the query

this example should return only 1 result

artist:wedding +track:million +year:2021

did you get 1 or more?

attachment:**bleep**

they keyword NOT is also being ignored

NOT artist:dion +track:runaround +track sue

attachment:**bleep**

still bring Dion as arstist

I will try the reinstall method, but don't think this is app-client related, because I have also tried on web player on edge

reinstalled, still not working

Hey @wineamyhouse,

Thanks for the reply.

In order for us to relay your findings to our tech team, we need a short screen recording of the process you've described together with the app version you've installed on your device.

We'll be on the look for your reply,

Cheers!

example 1: I am looking for covers, so I don't want DION as artists, then you will see we get DION on results still

NOT artist:dion +track:runaround +track:sue

example 2: the problem is that search results are not filtering properly and it is bringing the words on the wrong criteria

the 3rd result has wedding on the track name, but should be restricted to have it only on artist name
artist:wedding +track:million +year:2021

It worked 40 days ago for sure

maybe it was introduced "soundalike" search

because genre:shoegaze brings tracks name stargaze

and that is fine to most people

but please don't restrict the people the want exact results

Hey @wineamyhouse,

Thanks for the extra details and the recording.

We've relayed the information to our tech team and will let you know in this thread as soon as we get an update.

As this issue is not a high ranking one compared to other ones, we can't give you an exact timeframe on a potential fix, because, as you've described, it may very well be the intended way the search should work.

Rest assured, we're constantly trying to improve the user experience on our platform and your feedback is very important to us.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!
