Sleep Sounds

Sleep Sounds

At night I listen to various “sounds” (white/pink/brown noise, rain/storms, etc) to improve my sleep. Obviously this isn’t a preferred genre.

However, it is starting to influence my “Made for” play lists and other Spotify    Music recommendations for me.

is there a way for me to tell Spotify to ignore my sleep music in its algorithms.

Hey @MrMurph63,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the Chats section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

On our platform, there's a couple ways you can avoid meditation, sleeping or studying music from affecting your recommendations or taste preferences.

The first option is to activate the Private session feature by following the steps mentioned in this article. Anything you listen to when the feature is active may not influence your music recommendations, e.g. Discover Weekly.

The second option is a recently added feature that allows you to exclude any specific playlists from your music taste permanently. To use it, you just need to open the playlist you want to exclude on your mobile or desktop app, hit the 3-dot menu and select the option "Exclude from your taste profile". In case you want to include that playlist back on your music taste, you can repeat the process, but selecting the option "Include in your taste profile" anytime you want.

Hope this helps. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.
