Smart Shuffle always starts on the same song and only plays that genre(rap).

I turn on smart shuffle to find new stuff. Lately whenever I turn on smart shuffle, after finishing the current song it always plays the last rap song I’ve added and only plays that genre throughout the rest of the session or until I turn off smart shuffle. I would also like to not have to cycle through smart shuffle as when I’m hiking or somewhere without service it takes so long for the phone to attempt to load it and I’m not able to get to the standard play through.

Hey @kelz1969,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

In this type of situation, we'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful in getting rid of any corrupted files that might be causing issues with the Smart Shuffle.

If the issue persists, would you mind confirming if this happens when you activate the Smart Shuffle from a specific playlist or is it adding the same songs regardless if you activate it from any playlists or Liked songs? It would also be great if you could confirm the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to take a better look.

On another note, there's no option yet to avoid cycling between Shuffle and Smart shuffle, but feel free to add your vote to this similar idea posted by another user as it can be taken into account by the relevant departments if it reaches the necessary amount of votes.

We'll be on the lookout.
