My Question or Issue

So after realising for some reason Spotify likes uninstalling downloaded songs at random, causing my local songs to get deleted and having to redownload all playlists they're in, I tried using the Local Files option on my phone, by using the exact same folder of songs as on my pc.

Issue is, some songs, Spotify will recognise are the same on both devices, phone and pc; other songs, it doesn't sync, and adding the same song from the local files, to the playlist, will show 2 of the same song, one being unplayable on one of the devices

Has anyone experienced this and knows a fix?

My Question or Issue

I have a bunch of local songs downloaded on my desktop pc and I used to have no problems with them being synced to my phone but recently a problem arose where whenever my phone reboots, the synced songs become unavailable and I have to uncheck and then recheck the playlist for the local songs to be resynced, but then they're only synced until my phone turns off and then they get uninstalled again. my songs download to my local storage btw.

Hi there @Das_Terminator,

Thanks for reaching out. Currently, the expected behaviour is to have the local files on both devices and import them from there into playlists. Synchronization between both versions won't always be possible. We however are always looking for new ways to improve and we welcome the feedback.

As for songs removing themselves from downloads, make sure you don't use any cache clearing, cache optimization or battery optimization apps with Spotify, as those can cause the stored data to become corrupted, leading to this issue. A clean reinstall is also the easiest remedy for corrupted cache.

Hope this clears things up.

It doesnt make sense though why some songs work some songs dont, something is allowing it to work then for some songs, a property hiden.

I dont use any optimization apps other than the inbuilt Pixel battery saver, And I have done a clean install when I first noticed it

Hi there @Das_Terminator,

Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned before, battery optimization apps can cause such problems too, so consider adding Spotify as an exception there. As for the files, while we cannot go into detail about the exact process, the system does check what the source of the files you're trying to import is and if the source is believed to be illegitimate, the files won't be imported even if they meet all other criteria.

Hope this clears things up.

I have this problem too.  I have about 50 tracks that I just bought.  And only a fraction of it is accessible from my iPhone, and I can't figure out why.  There are 5 folders of music.  I made a playlist for each of the folders.  On each playlist, 2-3 songs will play, the rest won't.  These all came from the same source.

Hey @asdfasdfqwsdasdf

Welcome to the Community! Thank you for letting us know about your problem, lets take a look at it together shall we.

Joan has mentioned how local files behave, so I wont go into it in detail. Basically Local files are files that aren't hosted by Spotify but can be imported to Spotify from your own devices. You can then add them to playlists and enjoy them locally on the device they're stored on. What I would suggest is to take a look at this article here, written by one of our Spotify Stars.

Take a look at the info shared there and make a clean uninstall if you haven't done so already.

Keep us in the loop.

When im done syncing my files from my laptop to my S23 Ultra, it makes a folder under my Music folder when i close and open Spotify. Music>Synced Files>Artists>Album>Songs. Whenever it does that, it makes some songs unavailable. It never did this before until recently.
