Some new locally synched files won't play, but older will

Solved!

Some new locally synched files won't play, but older will

I haven't found a post with a similar issue which is why I'm posting this.

I want to locally synch a couple of songs from my desktop (Windows 10) to my iPhone 7 (iOS version 14.7.1). I have placed my local files on my desktop in a playlist and have been able to synch all of them to my iPhone. When I press to play on my iPhone, some downloaded songs play and function normally, while others give the message "song has not been downloaded" (although it looks like it has been).

The ones that work are the ones that I've had on my iPhone previously. After a while, the songs that don't work go "gray" and become unclickable.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I fixed the issue by creating new .mp3 files. I believe there must have been some issue with the previous ones. Although they looked like regular .mp3 files and I was able to play them on my desktop, they did not seem to work on my iPhone. Now I have converted the music to .mp3 files using a different website and it works.

Hi @Felstavatt,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. We're sorry that you're not able to play your local files on your iPhone as you should be able to. Let's take a closer look into this.

Just to confirm - can you double-check that you've followed all of this support site steps correctly.

We also suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app as this will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Another useful step is to change the source folder of the local files on the pc. The steps are: Uninstall Spotify on both devices > create a new folder somewhere else on the pc and move the local files there > install Spotify again > remove any potential source folders and add the new one > download the playlist again.

Hopefully one of the suggestions above will help. If it doesn't we're always one reply away.

Take care!
