Sorting by album doesn't properly sort songs

Sorting by album doesn't properly sort songs

When I shuffle by album, it shuffles the songs to a random order, instead of sorting the way that they appear on the album. I reinstalled, logged out and in, cleared cache and data and restarted my phone multiple times. Is happening in all my devices.

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

 

Just to confirm, when you sort by Album within a playlist, the album's tracks appears in a random order and not in the way they usually appear in the actual album? Also, when you mention 'shuffle' we assume you mean the Sorting option (and not the Shuffle feature)?

 

Should this be the case, as we couldn't replicate this app behavior from our end, it would be great if you could send us some more details:

 

  • The make, model & OS on the device(s) that you use Spotify on.
  • Current Spotify version.
  • A screenshot or video showing how things look from your end (just make sure no personal info is visible).
  • Does this happen with all albums or just with a specific one?

These details will help us look into this further 🙂

Hi!

 

Yes sorting option, sorry lol, English is not my first language.

 

I have a Samsung Galaxy S23

 

Spotify version is 8.9.92.408

 

I'll attach the video, in the beginning it shows the custom order, then I sort by album, then I show the regular album and the order that the songs should be based on the album.

Is only on this Playlist, I tried on another one(not on the video) and it sorted the right way, the songs stays in the album order:/

Thanks for getting back to us with this info!

 

This is odd. Since you mention that it only happens with that specific playlist, would you mind creating a new one to see if that does the trick? You can do this quickly using the desktop app to copy all the songs to the new playlist.

 

If it still doesn't sort correctly, could you send us the link to that new playlist so we can check it from our end?

Hihi, I'm so, so sorry

It is doing this to all Playlists.

I had only checked one and misread the songs titles so I thought it was in order.

I tried anyways and created another Playlist with some of the songs of the one I noticed the problem on and the problem persists.

We looked into this further using the playlists you sent over, and we can confirm that we got the same behavior in this case. However, it doesn't seem to affect all albums, so it looks like it's possibly related to playlists combined with specific albums.

 

While we can't give you an exact timeframe for if or when this app behavior with sorting some albums will be fixed, we appreciate you raising it with us 🙂 We'll let you know if we receive any news on this, and in the meantime, we recommend keeping the app up-to-date, to ensure you get the latest fixes and features when they're released.
