My Question or Issue
Spotify scrolls back to the same spot over and over again. It doesn't save or stay where I've left off, I'm not gone too long for it to justify its reset in position. Tried uninstalling, restarting, logging out. Not a big problem now but it's starting to get annoying when I have to keep scrolling back to find the song I lost because of this. It doesn't even scroll all the way up. Just goes back to this position. Below is an example, the red box shows the song I hover around or area I want to stay in, but when I change display (message someone quickly in messenger lets say) and come back to the app, Spotify goes to this area of the playlist. It consistently goes to this specific area. Any other solutions than the ones I've mentioned?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Whenever I am scrolling for songs to pick through my 2000 plus song playlist any time I have to respond to a message or any time I leave and come right back, no matter how fast it will always scroll up and make me loose my place making me scroll down all the songs over and over. And the weird thing is it doesn't even reset to the top it goes like a quarter down my list so it's not like an automatic thing just seems random. Wish there was a leave on last page mechanic in spotify so I could continue where I left off without the hassle of scrolling for miles to get back where I was just a second ago.
I have the same problem and I've tried the troubleshooting steps listed, but the problem persists. Hope it get fixed soon.

Yeah, I've got the same problem and am as annoyed by it, as I'm annoyed by reading for months that the Spotify team is looking it - I feel like there is nothing being done and we are left with the problem without a solution
Hi,
I feel like im going in repeat but its not 1 or 2 people that have it. Its not a small issue or smth u can bye pass. Its HURTING user experience. All we get is a "we have noticed the issue". We want clarity. With all due respect its very bad rep for u guys and i hope u listen to us and start making this more of a priority.
Thank you
I'm also having this issue. Have tried all the troubleshooting steps provided including a clean reinstall using the guide provided by Spotify. Hopefully this is fixed ASAP as I have been using the app for 10 years and never had any issues, this creates a horrible user experience.

My Question or Issue
If i scroll in any playlist wen i scroll about 100 songs diep it wil always go back up wen i open my phone again
I have the same problem on the Samsung Galaxy S24+. Everytime I close the app and the app is running in the background the scrooling position is at the top. Its very very annoying. And spotify seems to have no solution. I've reinstalled the app a serval times and have done all other suggestions. Nothing works. They have to fix the bug.
Apparently this is a feature they are testing?? If that's the case, I'm not sure what the benefit to the feature is. My liked playlist on Spotify is over 6000 songs, I like the freedom of scrolling through it when I'm travelling etc. The playlist resetting all the way back to the top if my screen goes off for a second is really, really annoying. Makes the experience super clunky having to scroll all the way back to position every time. Would appreciate it if this feedback is passed along. 🙂
Edit: at the very least, maybe they can add a toggle for this to make it optional!
So.... 2 months later and this is STILL NOT FIXED? What an incompetent company.
Fix your app for the love of god. Oh and uhh, how's that HiFi / Lossless music option coming along? Still waiting for that since your bogus announcement in February 2021.
This is very easy to replicate. To the point I did it on my phone quickly and I had 2 Androids behaving the same way. Can you imagine if I was a Spotify developer and actually spent time actually caring?
Easy. If you open Spotify and a playlist scroll to whatever. Then go to the holding window where you can see what apps you have opened.
Go back to your playlist. Boom, gone.
Workaround you? When you leave Spotify instead of going to the holding window, you jump immediately to the desktop, then if you go back to spotify, still remains as you left.
Easy. You're welcomed. And yes, I so understand coding.

My Question or Issue
I have a playlist over 2000 songs large. When I open the playlist then select a song, then leave the playlist open and open a new app, when switching back the playlist will REFRESH, scroll all the way to the top, and force me to scroll back down. It will not keep everything loaded in the same spot and I'm afraid it may only get worse with more songs. Please fix this bug.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Grow your playlist between 1500-2500 songs long.
2. Open spotify playlist
3. Select a song.
4. Do not leave the playlist window.
5. Go to android home screen.
6. Open a new app.
7. Switch back to the Spotify app either by selecting the window or the app.
8. Your playlist should have refreshed instead of staying at the spot you last left it.
An infuriating issue that is completely crippling the experience of using the app, to the point where I'm considering binning it after a decade. If I scroll down in my liked songs playlist, look at the lyrics for some song or do anything to provoke a page reload like closing my phone then it'll anchor back up top, around a quarter of the way down.
If you have a Playlist of like a couple hundred songs or more, and you scroll to the bottom of the Playlist and play something, you stick on the screen where your able to see the seconds on the progress bar of the song, wait like 15-20 seconds of the song playing, then swipe down out of that screen and the app glitches you to somewhat the top of the Playlist. Confirmed it's not just me when I requested my cousin try it (he has an android), and the same result appeared. I have not yet experienced this with my iPhone, it's stable on iPhone, but Android seems to be the target. If this continues I'll have to switch to YouTube Music even though I really don't want to.

My Question or Issue
Is anyone else on Android having the same issue?
Can reply as of March 2025 that this issue has still not been resolved. It is absolutely horrendeous.
Okay I actually tried this and it worked. The fact that this permission does not ever even pop up when app is installed is concerning to say the least. No user should be expected to have to tinker**bleep** like this.
What permission did you change?
Exact same thing happens to me, Xiaomi Mi note 10 Pro
Hey folks,
Thanks for your patience while we investigated this.
Our tech team has confirmed that this should be fixed in the latest app version (9.0.26.154).
Cheers,
Good afternoon, no change as of 2 April 2025, confirmed app is up to date on iOS.
