Syncing local files to iphone

My Question or Issue

I recently wanted to listen to some songs not on Spotify so I followed the steps and enabled local files from my laptop to Spotify. I added all of the songs to a playlist and was looking to be able to listen to the songs on my iphone 11 as well. However, when I downloaded the playlist on my laptop, they were not made available on my iphone. How can I make this work? I have made sure that both devices are on the same network and the two devices are able to sync up as when I listen to any other song on one device, it is displayed on the other as well.

Thanks for posting in the Community.

The files must be physically present on the iPhone as well so the app can detect them.

My Question or Issue

My local files aren't syncing on any of my other devices from my MacBook so I can only play them from my MacBook, whenever I try to play it from different devices asides from my MacBook it says "Spotify can't play this right now, if you have the file import it".

I believe we used to be able to sync over the network, but the "Enable sync from desktop" feature seems to be disappeared. Is there any changelog or release note that mentions this?
