Unable to remove playlists from Profile/Delete Playlists/AI Playlists

Unable to remove playlists from Profile/Delete Playlists/AI Playlists

My issue is not limited to the mobile app as I have attempted to remove playlists from my profile on Android, iOS Desktop as well as the browser version of Spotify.

Whenever I attempt to remove playlists that I have create it states the playlist has been removed but it does not remove it from my profile nor my library even after I select delete playlist. I see others have reported this issue an the recommendation is that the playlist still appears in our recommendations (so why do we get the message "Playlist is no longer displayed on your profile" When I attempt to remove spotify created playlists I get "Something went wrong"

I have only noticed this issue as I have been playing with the AI curated playlist feature on the mobile app (which I love); however, I noticed that I have 11 versions of Country Comforts Extended; when I select one of them, ALL of them are highlight which I assume that all 11 playlists are the SAME playlist, just mirrored 11 times. I have also attempted to remove the duplicates however, I feel I am adding to them whenever I attempt to remove them. So I wonder, when I select replace the playlist when refining it, it does not overwrite the current playlist. It creates a new playlist as a mirror to the original.

This is frustrating as I would like to continue using this feature, but another issue is when I try to create a new playlist, I get "This Feature has been removed." I can't wait for that playlist to show up a few hours later, and when I attempt to download it for offline use, I can't. I can't even add it to my profile; it's almost like the buttons to download and add are greyed out.

Hey @ANNOYEDCHERRY,

Sorry to see this has happened. It definitely looks like a cache-related issue to me.
Luckily enough, this should be easy to resolve - remove your cached data on every affected device and then log out and back in twice in a row to trigger a manual sync of your data.

If this doesn't help out, see if removing the Spotify entries from the hosts file on your Mac would make a difference,

Hope this helps! Keep us posted 🙂

Hello Vasil,

Thank you for your suggestion. However, this did not solve the issue that I am facing. I have cleared the cache multiple times and logged out and back in numerous times, I even cleared the cache between the log-out phases, but I have had no luck. I am not overly concerned with issue with the Mac as it is a work computer, but I have the issue when using my personal Windows computer at home.
I do not think this is a cache issue as the link you have provided talks about memory management. However, that would not be able to explain why I can't even add a new playlist to appear on my profile from the AI Generated feature OR be able to remove playlists (not downloaded) from my library. When I attempt to remove from library or delete playlist it disappears for a few seconds and then reappears as if I didn't even attempt to remove it.

Hey there @ANNOYEDCHERRY

Thanks for your reply.

To make sure that you get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your devices.

However, if this doesn't do the trick, the issue is most likely account-related. We know it's not ideal, but in this case, we'd suggest creating a new account and checking if you can replicate this. If not, you can keep using the new account and reach out to our Support team through any of these channels so they can help transferring your content to the new account. If you currently have Premium, you can cancel it by following these steps and then re-subscribe on the new account here. Afterwards, you can close the account you won't use anymore to avoid any mix-ups in the future.

Hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Hello Eni,

I had done clean re-installs on my phone whenever I had the issue trying to create a new AI Playlist as I would get the error message "This Feature has been removed," which was every time I attempted to create a new playlist through that feature.

This morning, I noticed I am able to remove playlists from my library from others/spotify and delete playlists I have created. So I am not sure if this was a sync issue that took a week for it to resolve itself OR if it was a bug that got patched in the most recent update on Oct 22/24
