My Question or Issue
There is no option to sort podcasts in "Your Episodes" in descending date order (i.e. oldest episodes to newest).
And for just a bit of irony... at the bottom of my post I see this:
Hi @ScottGeiger!
That's correct - currently on the mobile app, sorting Your Episodes by Release date causes the newest ones to appear on top. Note that the sorting options oldest to newest / newest to oldest are available when browsing a podcast, not in Your Episodes.
There's an idea about changing this behavior here which is still open for voting, so feel free to check it out and give it a like to show your support.
Hope this clears things up. Cheers!
how stupid is it that the newest go to the top so when you're listening to your current episodes it jumps to the latest one not the next one in date order? c'mon Spotify this is basic stuff.
This is one of my biggest frustrations with the Spotify app!!
Hi, Playing newest first is mad, no one wants to listen to podcasts that way. The link to the "idea" provided doesn't work for me, not sure if it has changed?
YES! Make this sorting options go both ways
oldest to newest / newest to oldest
btw: this is a newer poll about the issue
"Spotify Staff will look into this idea once it reaches the necessary amount of votes."
ARRRGGHHH there's only 12 votes! Not enough people are voting! They'll never even look at this!!!! 😡😡😡
They will spend millions on Joe Rogan but can't pay a junior developer to implement a basic feature.
It didn't work for me either
Bumping this. It's asinine that this isn't a default feature.
This is super annoying. Who wants to listen to episodes newest to oldest?
Checking in and piling on. Day 2 of using Spotify after looking for a Google podcast replacement and already thinking of what to use instead
It's really pathetic that this is STILL an issue 🙄 I posted this over a year ago and the only "solution" is to "vote" for it. This shouldn't be something that needs to be voted for. This is just common sense which Spotify completely lacks. I would recommend to everyone - find a different app and ditch Spotify. Tell the hosts of any Exclusively Spotify podcasts that you are dropping them and why. Maybe if enough hosts find they are losing listeners they will abandon this garbage platform and make their podcast available on other apps.
I can't believe Spotify podcasts is missing this basic feature. Who on earth would listen to podcasts newest to oldest? Even if you're not listening to an entire series it's still needed.
So we are still waiting on this...
Anyone tried YouTube premium? Gonna give it a go I'm thinking, as this seems like a lost cause...
I have successfully switched over to using Castbox for podcasts. A MUCH better platform (but honestly anything, even tin cans and string, is a better platform).
I can't manually sort podcasts? So.. what you're saying is the entire podcast functionality is useless. Ooook.. back to castbox I guess.
I keep hoping that they'll see how annoying not having this feature is to people but until that day I'll have to stick with an alternative app. Seems like such a basic function to add but they just can't be bothered
