My Question or Issue

For some reasons I keep having  the same songs in my Discover Weekly, at the point that I keep 2/3 songs over 30 every week and hide the rest.

I have this account for a month now, I imported my playlists and added a bunch of songs that I like to my favorites, I deleted my old account and made a new one because I had the same issue I reported here and some "Expert/Moderator" told me this ultimate suggestion to create a fresh new account and get rid of the old one, which had years of activity.

I didn't just delete the old account and created the new one in the same day, I took a 6 months brake from Spotify, uninstalled the app on my phone and laptop, and switched to another music service which actually made the equivalent of discover weekly much better than Spotify. However, I just came back with this new account and I'm having the same issue. At this point, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or Spotify algorithm is that bad.

Likewise many other users, I like discovering new songs, I believe Discover Weekly should be a mix of tracks that I never listened before, based on my music type preferences.

Are there other way to discover new music that I should consider? Not the genre mix please they are not so good, i.e. Punk Mix is terrible, not a single track in that playlist goes fits the Punk genre...

Hey @FeDos,

Thanks for reaching out and taking the time to share your feedback.

We're truly sorry to hear about your experience so far. To speed up the process of generating new personalized content, we'd recommend listening to your favorite tracks as much as possible and making sure to do that with the Private Session feature turned off.

In the meantime, another good way of finding new music would be by generating radios from tracks, albums, artists or playlists you like or checking out the Recommended section at the bottom of each of your personal playlists.

Also, try searching for "Picked just for you" in the app and (optionally) including the genre you're looking for.

Please keep us posted.

Hi MihailY,

I already tried everything you suggested, also I never used a private session. When I generate radios from tracks, albums, artists, or playlists I have the same problem, the queue is full of songs I already listened. The problem is I spend more time hiding songs than listening to them, which makes the experience very frustrating.

This is the last funny thing that happened in Discover Weekly, the same song was listed 2 times, and this song is, or has been, in my playlists for long, how can it be a "Discovery" ?

MihailY, Private session is always off. I know how to find new music. I am sure you get a lot of posts and thats why you send me this Canned response.

I do not think you are reading what changed to my discover weekly. Something dramatically went wrong. This is not a case of a few bad tracks, MY ENTIRE discovery weekly changed. Take a few mins to check it out, please.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your replies.

We've forwarded your reports to the relevant team at Spotify for further investigation.

@FeDos, in the meantime we'd suggest voting for this idea about consolidating multiple releases of the same track.

Let us know if there's anything else you wish to address.

Bro are you even trying. The link you sent doesn't even work.

Hey,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Apologies for the error, the URL was pasted twice in the link and that's why it wasn't working. We've updated it now, so please make sure to vote and subscribe for the idea.

Take care,

Wow something that have been suggested 3 years ago haven't been resolved yet. Seen that Spotify needs some good devs in their teams 😆
