downloaded audiobook removed from library even though I was offline

Solved!

downloaded audiobook removed from library even though I was offline

Plan

Premium

I had downloaded the audiobook: Sandworm by Andy Greenberg. I was 6 hours in out of a 12 hour audiobook and spotify was in offline mode on my phone all this time.

Today on my jog, it wouldn't play for some reason. So when I got home I put spofity back online and it said "audio book not available in this region"

It seems spotify loses the rights to audiobooks but even in offline mode Spotify will zap your offline downloads.

This is completely unacceptable.

To add insult to injuy, you have a bug in your code: you have deducted the full 12 hours from my plan even though I only listened to 6. At the very least you should credit accounts back.

What a cluster...

Hey there @stellardrive,

Thanks for reaching out & sorry to see what has happened!

Spotify will automatically switch off offline mode after 30 days for a re-sync, so your phone may have briefly gone online, causing the removal of the mentioned audiobook.

As for the listening hours, keep in mind that listening on an increased speed will deduct the actual listened to time. E.g. if you've listened to one hour on x2 speed, the app will register two hours as being used. However, if you believe this is not the case and that there is something off with your listening hours, feel free to also reach out to our support folks. They'll be able to look backstage and see what has occurred.

Hope this helps! We're here for you in case there's anything else 🙂

Thanks Vasil.

It was only offline for a few days so wouldn't have hit the 30 day limit.

Likewise, I was listening on normal speed. I did download the audiobook so perhaps the "bug" is once you download an audiobook the system assumes you have listened to the whole thing and reduces your audiobook hours.

I'll contact support to have a look.

Same issue here... I was most of the wat through a book and now it disappeared completely. Not in my library and not even searchable at all. I found the book by going through listening history, but when I tried to access it I received this same message about the book not available in your region. wth.

I've been stoked about books on spotify and repping it hard to others. No more. Who wants to get halfway through a book and have it disappear forever?!?? Messed up, Spotify.
